Most of you have probably done this. I replied to my partner Simon about an email from a very valued client; and as Simon and I sometimes do, it was in the vernacular - a little deprecating to be honest, but totally unintentionally so on my part.

I immediately apologised to our client who took it all in good spirit and saw the funny side of it - but my God - how embarrassingly cringeworthy.

Yes - I sent it to the client by mistake, not Simon.

    Anyone else have similar stories?

Not quite the same, but I have received emails to domains that have a catchall on them.

One email in particular was meant for a major PLC but the sender misspelt the domain and I received the message.

It was details of a transaction for around £2.4million to confirm the recipient bank details. All I had to do was respond with the bank details and the funds could possibly have landed in my account !! I was tempted for a few seconds !!

I once sent a text to mate taking the piss out of another mate. Needless to say I sent it to the guy I was taking the piss out of :)

All was forgiven as it was light hearted!

I am not a Gmail user but does it still have that undo-send feature?

I think the "Copy all" is the classic error.

Over the years i've got used to CC most emails to myself - just so I know how it looks to the recipient when I download my emails next morning. If it makes me wince - and a few to lady friends certainly have, then i go into damage limitation mode immediately - either that or have another couple of scotches for breakfast so as the original looks OK again

I had a mate who sent a saucy text to his mistress, but sent it to his wife by mistake - you may as well shoot yourself!

The dangers of modern technology are there.

I've had a few like this, although not as much as £2.4m.
I'm so fed up of getting e-mails like this for a particular domain that I've now just stopped all e-mails. I highly doubt it's the "Nigerian" scam (no pun intended for the majority of law abiding Nigerian citizens).

When I was at University I was applying to companies and I had to send my CV to one of them.

When typing my covering letter it was full of spelling mistakes and incomplete, and when my old email client closes instead of going into drafts it sends the email.

Did I get the job, go figure.

Already regged regretmail. co.uk and .com. Not a difficult project if you know SMTP. Still cringe.

I once got an email from a mate to arrange a game of 5aside. I accidently replied to all, to say why was XXX playing because he never puts in any effort and is a lazy, floppy haired little waste of space (or something similar). Needless to say my mate replied back to point out my error. I replied, copying in XXX, to apologise, but stood by what I said.

Best performance that guy ever put in that week, so sometimes it works!
