I will be hovering by the Nominet stand briefly (so that I don't look like a creepy stalker!) at 12:00 today if anyone reading this is around and wants to say hello.

There certainly was a certain air of desperation to some of the SEO firms. The whole show is getting more and more entrenched in the corporate world, very little innovation on display any more. And at prices above £650+VAT per m2 for a "bare" stand I guess that's hardly surprising!

I kept an eye open for you Edwin, but didn't see you - even at the Nominet stand.

This was my first internet World and I generally found most of the seminars quite useful. Nothing new really, but it was nice to chat with people in the industry and put faces to names.

I think one of the highlights were the amazing freebies from Nominet - good to see my membership fee is being used well! Was nice jam though.

As for the SEO companies, they were a little disappointing. None seemed to have any particularly new insights and with some charging up to £500 per inward link without even providing the copy I thought it was a shame that they're able to get away with it really.

Now I'm in London I plan to go to more of these things so if anyone is ever about feel free to look me up.

Haha, would help if I got the day right. The wrong day significantly reduces the chances of bumping into each other.

Well I managed to get a jar of jam, pack of cholocate mint tea, packet of biscuits, box of jelly beans, note pad, pencil and rubber. It was quite a nice touch really, they were asking for .co.uk domain stories and in return there was a wide selection of freebies. For those who have their stories featured there will also be a nice link back.

They were basically advertising .co.uk as the place to be in light of the recent increase in .tlds. Having not seen them at an event before I'm not sure if this is fairly usual for them?

@ Alex, basically, you only went there for the free food

Rather than some food, I think it would be better if they gave away a free hand regged domain of your choice, and registered it there and then for whoever, and also gave a link to the free domain.

Never did find out how many jelly beans were in the tube but as I already have an iPad 3 I was not fussed. I collected a few flashing bouncy balls, some more pens and quite alot of chocolate sweets. Occurred to me not many people knew what they were talking about, more sales temps than internet professionals, that said had a few interesting chats. Some more SEO gumf to read through

    internet world.

    Alex, Edwin,

We were there (SEO Positive) dont think i saw you guys come over, but then i very much doubt you were there looking for an SEO Company.

I only just noticed this post, or i would of mentioned that i was there and to have a coffee.

We done a few talks Alex about SEO / Google+ & Increasing your ROI from integrated search.

Incase your interested the slide from the presentations can be found here along with a few pictures of our stand.

We are attending the online marketing show in June of anyone fancies a coffee and a chat. more details can be found here.

i do agree though, the shows are starting to become kind of stale and less inspiring.

Apologies if you guys are the exception that proves the rule, but after over half a dozen Internet Worlds (including 2 as an exhibitor) I've never found an SEO firm that gave two hoots for exact-match generic domains... and that's not from lack of trying!

So given that the SEO industry seems collectively determined to ignore the equivalent of a wide open goal (too hard a sell to clients?) I've given up talking to them...

ha ha, i did speak to a few domainers there actually.

One of which name dropped you Edwin. He owned 'emailmarketing.co.uk' among some others.

with regards to ignoring emd's not this seo company. i just acquired www.rugs.org.uk for a client last week, and a few others for other clients.

i wouldnt say im a massive domain buyer by any means, but if i have a client who understands the benefits once explained to them, and they have the budget, its something that i think needs to be explored.

Anyone going to www.onlinemarketingshow.co.uk ? come and see us for a quick 'hey' and a coffee.
