According to this article, he's off to join CentralNIC
    http://www.lse.co.uk/AllNews.asp?co...ints_Glenn_Hayward_As_Chief_Financial_Officer

He's still working out his notice at Nominet, but I presume that will be a matter of days or weeks.

For reference, he's on the Nominet Executive - which I believe would have made him party to the .uk decision process - and his profile there reads:

Out of the frying pan into the fire. In the wake of the barrage of new tlds on the horizon, Centralnic's prospects look at an all time low if you ask me

Just read that they are floating on the AIM and plan to launch 60 new tlds themselves. I guess they foresaw major problems flogging their geo subdomains so they're going to gamble (with other peoples money) on having a sizeable slice of the new tld market

I am assuming you wrote the first paragraph, posted, researched, and then edited your post to add the second? Haven't you contradicted yourself? :)

Yes to the first question, no to the second.

After posting I was curious as to why this chap might have wanted to join centralnic now so I took a look their website and saw that they are planning to launch several new tlds.

No doubt the reason they plan to do this is that they are very concerned about the old subdomain business with new tlds on the horizon. So they're diversifying into the new tld market themselves. But in my view nearly all of these tlds will flop anyway so there is no contradiction!
