    Hi guys,

I have had some OK domains, but I have also seen some random domains sell on domainlore for quite a lot of money - can someone spread some light on this please?

Obviously no ofference to the people that own these but as a beginner, I was thinking the shorter the better and also looking at searches etc.

I'd just appreciate a bit of guidance in the different aspects to look at...

    Thanks

Bad practice to talk about domains you don't own...

Especially if they are on auction - I've removed the domains..

Doesn't matter - you don't own them so please don't open up discussions about them...

I did report the post for that reason, which I just sent Tommy a PM about, as well as some info about the now removed domains and why they might have value due to the brandable nature and/or back links etc.

    Tommy??

    No offence taken..

I stated the above as I have one of these on DL and don't want a debate about its potential value...

    Either reason is good enough..

We can talk till about search volume, brandability and other factors till we're all blue in the face but the biggest point remains, every domain name is unique, and if someone really wants it they have to pay a price they and the seller are happy with.

How did you manage to edit his post without his post showing it was edited? There was a thread here a few days ago saying this wasn't possible. (Not that I disagree with you editing out the domains).

I think there's a 10 minute gap after a post is created where any edits will not be labelled. PoshTiger edited the OP's post 7 minutes after it was created. :)

What's so dislikeable about discussing domain names currently registered to others that might be up for auction?

There was a box that I didn't fill in because I was on my iPhone - i had already replied in the forum with my actions in more detail.

Didn't think it necessary and I was playing poker at the time...

The domain names are on auction at the moment - its always been frowned upon to discuss domains other people have for sale on this forum.

So what about past discussion of domain names that were pending deletion? Once those have been deleted and registered is one not permitted to discuss them? Should previous discussions of those domain names be deleted?

You don't have to take it upon yourself to disagree with everyone on this forum all the time. It had nothing to do with you, affected you in no way whatsoever, yet you feel you must constantly comment and divert the subject.

Who exactly are you trying to impress?

I have said all I have to say - this post discussed domains CURRENTLY FOR SALE or ON AUCTION.

If you want to start a thread discussing forum policy then be my guest.

I've made two posts in this thread asking for some clarification, predominantly because of comments you've made. Neither of my posts actually disagreed with anything. Your first sentence was "bad practice to talk about domains you don't own". It might be helpful if you edited that if you are actually only referring to domain names "currently [listed] for sale or on auction [in certain places?]".My questions still stand as valid. I think you have embarrassed yourself with the other stuff.

I was also surprised to see this thread moderated and the manner in which it was moderated. Tommy was asking a genuine question without any negativity and was not commenting on either a sales or an auction thread. Invincible's got it about right with his last reply.

He was commenting on domains that were listed here for sale and are currently on auction albeit on another site.

I acted on a post reported by another user as I always do. It's clearly split opinion as some people agree and others disagree.

If your unhappy about it - maybe PM admin?
