I have picked up accumulator.tips, I saw that as a decent selection from all of the new extenstions.

As it is a new extension, just wondering if the community had any thoughts on value and whether something in a similar vein (as in a common phrase using other extensions) could hold some value.

I assume all the good ones have gone and this was the only one with significance that was left.

Well i picked up acca.tips as well which should be good. Things like football.tips are reserved and not registered yet, but I assume they will sell that one for a bit more than the normal reg fee.

I wasn't really looking in other fields but i know cooking.tips is unavailable so I will assume all of the other ones would be gone as well for the .tips domain.

So do you think that unlike biz and info and travel, a big secondary market will develop for dot tips ?

Do I think a significant one? No. I think there will be a few key domains that will work well and will stand out against a .com e.g. cookingtips.com to cooking.tips but other than the core (i dont want to guess how many) I dont imagine a potential secondary market.

I think as with most things the value will come from the business buitl upon it no doubt. I was just after some intial thoughts on the key ones.

If you were going to build a business on a dot tips domain wouldn't you only do it on the best ones. Would you not choose mycookingtips dot com over cooking dot tips or even a sub domain cooking.tips.com
mycookingtips.co.uk is available to reg and will soon be mycookingtips.uk

I have racked my brains and can find no enthusiasm for most of the new extensions. Because .biz and .info could not get real traction it suggests that most registrations are money down the drain.

You should take note of the millions of uk domains that have been registered without rhyme nor reason and see how easy it is to get carried away by clever marketing and the must not miss out syndrome.

The problem seems to be that, the bigger the project (and the more serious the budget) the less people are likely to want to use a new GTLD for it.

If you'd just a hobby site looking for a page for your knitting patterns (or whatever) then frankly it doesn't make a bit of difference what domain extension you choose - but if you're a business trying to make a living from ecommerce, going with something that nobody is familiar with forces you to spend more money with every single marketing interaction on explaining your web address.

all i hear is how users wont know to use the new extensions and how thick the world is, when it comes to domain names. Ironically I also heard the same thing in the early 90s regarding "domain names".

People adapt and learn. Also, generally speaking most visitors from online, whether search engines or links on fb/forums/etc.

I think you got a great domain OP. Do you plan on developing it?
