So in an effort to make more of my developed sites I have decided to try to stop buying more names and put more effort into the ones I have and developed.

Browsing all the different SEO Tools I have tried SEO Powersuite which is a very powerful SEO tool with a zillion options but requires a lot of scanning of metrics from your PC that takes ages to complete and then analyse.

I found an online one called SEO Profiler that lets you put in a list of your websites and the keywords you want to rank for, it also analyses the main competitors so you can see who you are up against.

It's not so cheap - minimum €50 a month although they have a deal right now you can get the "SMART" version (usually €99 a month) for €1 for a risk-free trial.

I like that it does all the scanning for you and you spend your time checking the results on the site (or weekly email digest).

    Has anyone tried this service?

I've used Powersuite, but found it to be just like all the other automated services - Good if you've missed something obvious, crap at anything else.

The only thing I found they offer that is half useful is the 'BuzzBundle', searching social media, video sites, blogs and forum for updates to your keywords. Dosen't get as much as Google alerts, but still a good addition.

For link analysis, building etc the only decent ones are Ahrefs.com and MajesticSEO , not cheap at around £50 a month but worth it if you're seriously about getting sites ranking :)

    Market Samurai

I've been watching loads of videos about SEO and learn't some obvious things that I haven't been doing.

I've usually just grabbed the top 12 keywords from Google Keyword Planner and run with those. What this taught me is that you need to research who is ranking for those keywords and see if you have any chance of competing. If they have a 10 years old domain with hundreds of quality backlinks then forget it, stay in bed! you will never beat them to the front page of Google for that KW so target an easier one.

I am using a mixture of tools and now trying Market Samurai which is a keyword research software package.

Click the banner below to receive a FREE 12-day Trial of Market Samurai plus they send you 4 bonus internet marketing training videos.

Using my link to Market Samurai you can also get a £32.50 discount if you decide to buy it after the 12 day trial:

    SEO IQ free download

seems not but looks like a comprehensive package, if you have the time to invest.

I came across SEO IQ today, I'm giving that a try as seems to be a new breed of SEO tool that runs more actively in your browser. It sits over the top of the webpage you are looking at and shows you the results in a side Window, I like that rather than some separate APP or website.

You can see a video demo of it here: SEO IQ Free Download

I am still trying it to see what it does beyond site analysis / auditing.
