Just got this email from Nom:

Only sent to one of my nom accounts. However the link 'please click here to complete the survey now' don't work from Thunderbird. Got there in the end.

    Q1 - Have you renewed in last 6 months. (no I haven't)
Q2 - why is you domain registered (personal business etc etc)
Q3 - What is (domain) intended for? Commercial, charity, personal etc etc
Q4 - How long ago did you register (domain)?
Q5 - Had to copy and paste this one:
Q6 - What made you first register this domain? list of options
Q7 - What influenced your domain ending? list of options
Q8 - When you first purchased, where did you go for information? List of options.
Q9 - Why did you choose .co.uk? list of options
Q10 - Was .co.uk you first choice, or were all other options taken?
Q11 - Other than .co.uk, which, if any of the following internet domain endings do you currently have registered for this entity? List of endings
Q12 - How likely are you to renew this domain next time its due?
Q13 - And why do you say that? In response to 'probably will' for above)
Q14 - How likely are you to register a .uk domain name for this entity within the next 12 months?
Q15 - How likely are you to register a .com domain name for this entity within the next 12 months?
Q16 - Thinking about two of the most prevalent domains in the UK -.co.uk and .com, please choose from the following words which you would associate with each of these two domain endings.
You may choose both, either or neither of the two domain endings for each word.
words like - credible, well known, trusted, professional etc etc
Q17 - Thinking about .co.uk, how much do you agree or disagree with the following statements? (List of statements is th highest quality, is trusted with strongly agree, agree etc etc)
    Q18 -
Having read that, how much do you agree or disagree with the following statements?
Then a list of 'I like the promise on reliability' questions.
Q19 - Considering what you’ve just read, would you be prepared to pay more for a domain extension if it had these quality attributes and support services (i.e. dispute resolution services, guaranteed service uptime, general support and advice)?
Q20 - Which UK region are you from.

    No idea what you mean.

Do you mean 'Are they only sending to names that have dropped?'? If so, then no, the domain they were talking about has been registered for about 5 years and is active.

    [nom-announce] Registrant behaviour market research

In the coming weeks, we'll be conducting research with a randomly selected sample of registrants in order to gain a better understanding of consumer demographics, domain buying behaviour and sentiment in selecting UK domain names. The research will be performed via an online questionnaire on our behalf by an agency called Insight Engineers, although the email inviting registrants to complete the survey will be sent from Nominet.

We're aiming to get approximately 2,000 responses, and in order to obtain these we expect the number of invite emails sent to reach tens of thousands.

We plan to share top line results from this research with you in due course.

More information, including the email invite copy, is available on registrar resources - http://registrars.nominet.org.uk/ma...uk-family/registrant-behaviour-research-email

There's some debate currently occurring on Nominets own forum for members and registrars about the wording of these emails, which has recently been revised due to previous discussions, particularly the use of "our customers" by Nominet (the customers are generally considered to be those of the registrar, not the registry) and the use of "registry for all domain names ending in ‘.uk’" which is technical incorrect because Nominet aren't the registry for .police.uk, .ac.uk or or .nhs.uk amongst others. Also the link to the survey apparently doesn't work in the revised email.
