Can you expand on the .uk situation? Was it offered to the buyer? And if so, do you know why they didn't take it up?

Virtually no end-users are investing in .UK domains. I mean, why would they? The only people picking them up are pretty much resellers hoping they can resell them to the .co.uk owners.

This appears to be an end-user purchase based on the price, so would likely have no use or need for the .UK extension.

That's my guess, but it would be interesting to get a first hand account from someone who has just spent $205,000 on a domain. I'm wondering if the seller jacked up the .uk price so the buyer decided against, however if the buyer literally turned their nose up at it even just as part of the deal, that's pretty brutal for .uk.

A .co.uk that sells for 200k in dollars doesnt mean the .uk is worthless just cos buyer didnt want it.

If anything it means youd be lucky to get the .uk for anything less than 6 figure sum from the buyer.

If no anyone who got a .co.uk worth coupla hundred grand and you are utterly convinced the .uk is worthless pls pm me immediately as ive got a tenner burning a hole in my pocket for that worthless .uk.

Wasn't suggesting it was worthless, of course. However, in one of the biggest .co.uk acquisitions for years (and possibly for the foreseeable), the buyer either chose the .co.uk over the .uk (if they were priced similar) or didn't want the .uk (if it was offered as part of the price). We all sit around waiting for magical signs of which extension is going to come out on top, these are the only kind of signs we're going to get. I'm just attempting to get a better insight in to what happened here.

I don’t believe any company has invested any significant sum of money in a .uk domain the last few years, or ever for that case. Only hand registered or .uk domains they already had.

An entirely valid response and thought process, but those domains still had their value determined by how much the buyer was willing to invest at the time.

Any and all of the top 10 .uk domain names in my mind have sold for a significant amount of money.

I can confirm 100% the seller 'Anthony' did offer James the .uk - Anthony is a solid, genuine domain pro and would never not have disclosed it. Hope that helps.
