    Hello,

I have no idea what fan sites go for, if anything! I am wanting to know how much I could sell Greendayonline.com for, the whole website and the domain, and also the greendayonline.co.uk domain. The site doesn't make a profit, and gets around 4000-6000 unique hits a month, depending on what the band is doing. The hits double when they are on tour.

    Hope someone can help.
    Cheers,
    Lewis

TBH its only worth something if it makes any money. If anyone was to buy it then it would be with view that it could make a profit.

The website itself would have to be scrapped, that must be the slowest site ever. So once you've done that theres not much left to put a price on.

Slow loading flash entry page, dump that but keep the rest! Put some google adsence ppc advertising on it and start making some money, even try an amazon account for cds.

This site should produce revenue, when it has for a few months you will get a better idea of commercial value, or try selling it to one of the site users for a few £K 'maybe' if you are v lucky!

Alright, I guess when making the flash intro I didnt think about people on a slower internet connection.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

I don't even think it is a slow connection that is the issue Lewis. Flash is best kept small and simple. Large Flash intros annoy the pants off a lot of people, and either send your visitors away (zero revenue) or have them heading straight for the skip intro link, which you don't appear to have.

Flash is best left to adverts, banner sized and making a point.

I have had a lot of positive feed back from the flash intro, But the people who dislike it dont really seem to speak up. There are links below the flash which link to the different parts of the site. I havent used flash much before in the past, so one of the reasons was to learn how to use it and gain experiance by making the flash intro. I will look to design a fast loading intro, or maybe scrap the whole idea of having an intro. Do you think I need to reduce the amount of images used on the main pages?

My advice would also to loose the flash intro... You will probably see an increase in time visitors spend at your site becasue the people that instantly click away becasue they dont want to wait for the flash intro will stay longer.

When users visit a site they want to see if that site has the information they need as quickley as possible, it is within the first five seconds of visiting a site that the user decides to stay and investigate or leave. Within those five seconds if all they can do is wait for a flash intro to load and play they will leave. :)

Also as 'nnh' says, get some google adsense on there are some affiliate links and see what potential the site has to make money before selling. Any revenue earned will increase your chances of a good sale dramatically.

I suspect most people hitting the site are seeing the flash and exiting, I'd get rid of the flash if I were you.

Can't you put some buy dvd/album links for your album section, I notice you have them for your dvd section but not the album section.

your merchandise link is right at the bottom, I would stick this towards the top just above the guitar under navigation

Thank you all very much for your comments. I am going to change the site either tonight or at the weekend.

I had the affiliates manager add adsense in the past, he was getting 50% but then I found out he was clicking on the ads so we got our account suspended!! I have tried getting another but cant. I may try yahoo or another search engine.

Just had a look on the site, It looks good. One of the problems I had in the past with ads was not being able to have usa ads as I am in the UK, but this seems to know where the visitor is coming from and then displays the specific ad. I am going to fully install it and do the other amends to the site at the weekend. Had such a hectic week. I will let you know if it is works well.

    Cheers for your help.
