UK2 - Stay Clear

I signed up for UK2's reseller programme with the first 3 months free - l really wish l hadn't !

For the last 3 weeks we have experienced down-time of several hours, at least twice a week. I have called their support on 32 separate occasions and only been answered 4 times.

Eventually on Tuesday (last week) they agreed to move our account to a different server - which l gladly agreed to. I was told the transfer would happen on Friday afternoon and take around 24 hours.

Saturday morning l checked the sites. Not only were none of them live, our main reseller domain was displaying an Indian website. I logged an “EMRGENCY” ticket. My “EMERGENCY” ticket was replied to 14 hours later on the Sunday morning. I was told there was an “issue” and that the domain name DNS records would need to be reset.

Monday morning and still nothing. Apparently a communication issue meant the transfer did not go ahead with one department but did with the other. I was told the matter was in-hand and all the DNS records would be reset again and everything would be live in 24 hours.

Upon checking the information now all our domains hosted on the reseller account point to private name servers. UK2 “forgot” to change the IP addresses for these, so guess what ….. more DNS records resets and another 24 hours.

To date we have missed 54 phone calls, unknown emails and it has cost us over £125.00.

DO NOT USE UK2 if you value your business

Hey ableit,

email Tim over at UK Web Hosting - Evohosting Ltd tell him Steve (glamhos) sent ya over and explain ya need a little help and ya problem and I'm sure he'll go out of his way to help you, that if you plan on leaving UK2 which I would after that, thats rubbish.

More than 4-6 hours downtime in a month and you should be looking at Refund City there.

He's pretty much the only hosting company I recommend (most coz I have my own).

I also think he maybe able to transfer your site for you , assuming you leave UK2.

Sorry to hear about your problems there Ableit, but I can't help wondering how long you've been involved with domains. Not as long as some of the poor souls here, I suspect. Most know only too well about UK2, as many a Nominet Tag transfer request will witness.

Yes, the learning curve can be both steep, and expensive!!

My understanding was that, whilst UK2 were perhaps a bit iffy in the beginning, that they were now much better. Clearly this is not correct!

Hosting

I was thinking of hosting my insurance websites on a uk2 server, are they good? Can the UK2 take high traffic for insurance quotes?

uk2 make 123 look like the most professional firm on the planet
altho 123 are way better these day
i have gone thru nightmares in past with uk2. if u thought .uk was a prob, u try getting tld's out! u cant for 2 years or you pay a fortune. luckily after months and dozens, and i mean dozens of support tickets got lucky
thats only cos they had a work experience guy who luckily chanced on this forum and helped me out ages ago
cant comment on their hosting but the way they're run u shpould run a mile

if you use uk2 for anything after repeated warnings and threads everywhere, ur nuttier than proverbial squirrel sh*t
