How many sites on 20gb DS and 60gb BW ?

Just started making instant sites but at 12 quid per year each i decided to goto Heart internet and take out Home professional.

This cost around 110 quid per year.

I get 20gb disk space and 60gb bandwith per month.

I am going to use their WYSIWYG editor site builder.

Q. How many sites do you think i could run off this ? I am hoping 20 ?

Would work out at 5.50 each per year !!!

Advice please !!! PS. can people please post on my Marshall Mathers forum to get it going, Thanks !!!

There is no answer to that, you could have 100 or 1000 sites, or one really popular one.

I have a site that uses 120GB per month of bandwidth and others that use a couple of hundred MB's, should be more than fine for small/low traffic sites though so should be ok for what it sounds like you want it to do.

Thanks Scott !!!

I'll give it a try

Just been on hearts web builder for 1 hour and very happy with it

I will be taking out business professional hosting for 150 quid per year, this will give me more flexibility and i am not stuck with instant sites.

I can progress to making my own in due course, F*CK 12 quid per site !!!
They can kiss my a*s

60gb bandwidth will be chewed up rapidly depending on how image/video/graphics heavy your sites are, if you follow standard mini-sites you should find it quite hard to use.

I try to keep my mini-sites below about 3-5mb, with the average viewer looking at 7 pages and using around 1mb each, so now you can work out 300 users a month is 30mb.

Once you have made your site (site builders write bloated code by the way), view and save each page and look how big they are, then you work out like above.

If they are all minisites or small sites with 300 viewers a month checking out a half dozen pages each, then 20 is easy.

Evo are both a hosting company and a registrar.

I generally keep my domains and my hosting separate.

I had .co.uk's with 123 and now with daily, some TLD's with R4L and alot with GoDaddy, I just change the name servers to ns##.evo, then in the control panel, just goto add on domain or park domain, it then adds that domain to the account, you can give this new domain its own ftp/mail/etc or run it thru the main account like I do.

I have 1 FTP that allows me access to the other minisites, in folders, so say your master domain was doodle.co.uk, your add on domains would look like doodle.co.uk/newdomain.co.uk/index.html or you could access it simply by newdomain.co.uk/index.html.

You can also use this technique in your favour to turn doodle.co.uk/newdom/ doodle.co.uk/domtwo into part of the doodle.co.uk site, as well as a site in its own right as newdom.co.uk and domtwo.co.uk.

This means you can FTP into doodle to access all the other sites with one login, this has a def advantage over resellers when your the sole owner of all the domains.

This is the same with any hosting company.

You got a pm

I couldn't imagine paying money like that for hosting

I use free hosting for all my websites, also, I never have any of my site images on my hosts server, I always use Imageshack's free image hosting service for site images, saves on the bandwith usage with the webhost.

Systreg, i thought free hosting would cover your site in the hosts banners and be restrictive ?

Plus i use the host templates as i don't have anything like Dreamweaver or Wordpress

Anyway i am on a 3 1/2 hour coach trip to London tommorow and then back and i have took 3 books out from the library

1/ Creating family websites for dummies
2/ 10 steps to HTML
3/ Html and CSS in 24 hours, well 7 hours is a good start ?

I'll take 1 of these books with me.

Yeah, a lot of hosts insist on banners with their free services, but a lot don't, I use www.110mb.com and www.50webs.com for my hosting, neither of which make you show any forced adverts, you can also use your own domains with both, host unlimited domains with 50webs, and one per account with 110mb.

They can be restrictive in the way of cgi, sql, php etc, which you would have to upgrade to be able to use, but as I don't use any of that stuff, they suit me down to the ground.
