Looks like a great deal to me. Do you have Plesk application install like WP?

Why not be truthful on what you can actually host?

Also, its down at the moment

This sounds too good to be true! Although it will only take one user to actually take up your offer of unlimited storage and bandwidth to screw you up completely!

Why would I pay £7.99 when your home page states:

"... here at PearlHosting.co.uk we offer totally unlimited web hosting for as little as £1.99 per month."?

Come on Nick, haven't you found those unlimited hard drives in PC World yet? They're on the shelf next to bulls*it in aisle 3 :)

I doubt anyone here would push the limits, not least because most only have a handful of developed websites which aren't intensive anyway.

Well I didnt quite expect that, erm, backlash.

aZooZa - I will send you a PM now

Jimm - Yes it is unlimited. I would not lie and risk damaging my reputation. Also, when was it down? As far as I am aware it was been at 100% availability for quite a while now but do let me know if you know differently.

dotNetFreak - thank for pointing out the typo. Fixed it now. I should learn to proof read more accurately.

Of course hard drives cannot be 'unlimited' - along with the mountains of space that is already available, if space looks like its getting low another mountain of hard drives is bought to meet demand...hence it never runs out.

**As a special offer for Acorn members I will sell this at £5.00 per month for the first 10 people who want to take advantage - assuming you believe it is unlimited**

If anyone has any more questions feel free to ask.

Out of interest is your service provided via a reseller account at unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk/resellerhosting.php?

I noticed last night when you posted the thread that 2 of the dns servers for the domain are provided by unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk - I looked as I was interested in the hosting proposition.

Ty - just sent you a PM with the details :)

Update: Ok, I have been told that offering services on here is not allowed until getting prior approval from admins. This is something I was totally unaware of - so if any admins are reading feel free to send me a PM if this is the case.

Also - a few members seem to be angry that what I am offering is 'reseller' hosting, as a number of people have pointed out in the thread. Yes, it is with unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk and its £11.99/month. I am all about being truthful and not 'covering things up'.

I am sure most people are here to make money (some just because they simply have a passion for domaining), me included, I am most certainly not here to make a fast buck or whatever you want to call it. I love what I do, albeit a hobby, and that is why I am here!

If you don't want to take advantage of this offer then that is fine. However, if you do then send me a PM.

The offer of first 10 Acorn members @ £5.00/month still stands. After that it will be £7.99/month

    Thanks.

Are you saying you are happy to host my script that will scrape say a terabyte of data, then infinately create duplicates of it on your server?

Likewise I can then buy another account on a different server you have and mirror the lot ?

Then, can I do a daily backup of this ever growing file?

Hey, Rob, would you mind backing up all my data too? Shouldn't be a problem because it's unlimited...

I have an 11TB san which is currently replicated elsewhere. Can I host that data with you? Will save me a fortune!
All the data is accessible from one website so you wont have a problem with this?
I think I might keep a few coppies of the date, just incase something happens to any of the other coppies.
Ive pleanty of other data dotted around too, no problems dropping that on the account too.
Oh, and I run a Ubuntu and CentOS mirror website. I can host that?

    *shakes head in dispare*

And just for full disclosure, yes I do run a hosting company. But these businesses selling something which just does not exist winds me up and it does the industry no good at all.

It was down at time of posting this morning. Checked from an ADSL connection, and from servers in london, leeds and NYC.

    That is correct.

They host 4od and other big websites which I assume has thousands and thousands of TBs of data and used a whole bucket load of bandwidth.

This may put a few minds at rest, however I fear not all will be totally satisfied and will try and come up with bigger and bigger sites to try and prove that this isn't unlimited.

As I have said, I use unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk - you can check their claims of totally unlimited web hosting too. I am sure they are fully aware of the Misrepresentation Act and Sale of Goods and Services Act. Along with the fact that fraudulent misrepresentation can give rise to recission of a contract and damages under the tort of deceit etc etc. Even if they have an exlcusion clause in their T&Cs which tries to exclude misrepresentation and therefore the payment of damages as a result this will be subject to the usual tests under UCTA 1977 - more often than not meaning the clause being struck out as not effective.

No they do NOT host the 4od streaming data nor the main website. They may host some obscure little but but they do not hold the actual program data nor the main website (the bit at http://www.channel4.com/programmes/4od) as that is hosted by ioko - based in York (who have just been bough by kit digital) - and is hosted in telehouse.

    I am confused.
    Domain name:
    unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk

    Registrant:
    David Kimberley

    Registrant type:
Other UK Entity (e.g. clubs, associations, many universities)

    Registrant's address:
Unlimited Web Hosting UK Ltd%%Unlimited House%%86 Ashington Business Park
    Coventry
    England
    CV3 4DE
    United Kingdom

I have spent some time in Cov and that location did not ring a bell.

If you google "Ashington Business Park" in Coventry there is no other address featuring apart from internet related ones and 86 - http://www.google.co.uk/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q="Ashington+Business+Park"+coventry

If you google the postcode CV3 4DE , it covers a road called Ashington Grove.

That is not a business park but a residential address?

As an alternative, just in case anyone would like to get a hosting account direct with UnlimitedWebHosting they do a pay monthly account with all the "unlimited" stuff that's been mentioned here, offering hosting for unlimited domains for

    £2.75 per month**

    www.unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk/hosting.php

This is a *special* deal for unlimited Acorn members, or for anyone else in the world as it happens :)

Please forward the other £2.25 / £5.24 a month to Admin, thanks.

As I see it, if you had advertised your new hosting service on here at a sensible price with sensible limits then you wouldn't be getting grief and most people (including me) would wish you the best of luck.

It's nothing personal, but I'm fed up with seeing claims of "Unlimited". It doesn't exist. It's a load of marketing crap that the ASA should have stamped on years ago and then Joe Public wouldn't have been misled.

It also winds me up when people slap badges on sites such as your provider has with the RIPE NCC one. Are they a RIPE LIR? Well, I doubt it since they aren't listed as a member (https://www.ripe.net/membership/indices/GB.html) and their IP space is owned by Melbourne.
