Traditional advertising rates.

I have a request for traditional advertising. I usually use Adsense, but I'm not averse to this way. What is a suitable rate based on views or impressions? I know it might depend on the sector, but is there any benchmark out there or what do people use?

Totally depends on the niche, the ad position, the amount of traffic and whether it's GEO targetted.

On ObsessedWithFilm.com I've run campaigns for £4 cpm, and I've run remnant campaigns for £0.15 cpm. So it just depends.

So say 3,000 ad impressions per month, what are you charging per month/year/6 month period?

The FT was charging about 120 pounds CPM for some sections of its site, I seem to remember

More often than not if it is "traditional" advertising request on a site with only a small number of visits, they are likely looking to get the banner for SEO purposes. If this is the case, then you need to be pricing up accordingly.

If it is indeed just for a banner visibility (and not in anyway SEO related) then 3,000 impressions in a normal niche is going to be worth much more than a tenner a month. But if it's 3,000 banner impressions on a highly targetted page (let's say Plumbers in Liverpool) then the cost would be significantly higher.

Like I say, it's hard to say without knowing the niche etc. Drop me a PM if you like

I'm a little concerned it's just tyre kickers. I give them the numbers and they decide whether I am a threat or not. Here is part of the email:

Can you please send me information about the webpage (monthly PI's, UU, advertising possibilities (formats) and prices?

I don't see the person asking the questions on the company w/s.
