Thumbs up Hello from Irish domain enthusiast

Irish domain dabbler here, I mostly have irish towns and print business related domains, my regret.......that I did not come across this site sooner! does anyone have experience of realtime.at? they have a weird system of security by wire transfer first for eu domains and then you have to bid if they succeed in registering. It is just that I was after some particular eu names yet to drop and my current registrar is not that lucky.

Welcome to the forum. If you post your question in the .eu section someone may be able to give you an answer.

It was a very expensive domain but slowly coming down in price, it is desirable to localise searches in Ireland, I do not know what impact the eu is going to have on it now though.

Welcome to the board Ironeagle.
The .ie domain might break 75K .ie domains registered this year. But to get a .ie domain, you have to prove you are entitled to it. Compared to other ccTLDs there is very little speculation due to the problem of transferring the domains. So far, the effects of .eu on .ie have been minimal.

Regards...jmcc

My main one is listowel.com which certainly pays for its keep, the rest are villages and such but will grow in popularity, local government has primary rights to .ie domain towns and counties in ireland and has generally turned them into brochure sites, I have started looking at .mobi variants now.
