I do care as I believe Montenegrin's only declared independance in 2006. As I said, trading fine, but would anyone seriously build a business on there?

Wow. Feel free to explain why I (and other readers) should take your thoughts seriously? Feel free to include your domain history

If you can grab a good .me then i guess it would be even better than a dot com.
Let me guess, you own a few me's

What has country's independence got anything to do with owning a .me domain ?
You dont actually have to go there you know

They should not actually. They should go to top domain sites and find out the truth themselves.

Sorry if any comments were rude or wrong

The only truth at the moment is that it is a new extension released with domainers as the target - ie. 'premium' sell offs at the TRAFFIC (does anyone know what that stands for?) conference. There is no verifiable sales data of the kind that can give solid information to domainers, they can only go by previous similar launches and reflect on how they perform.

All it needs is a Rick 'Have a Nice Day' Schwartz to be the beacon for all new domainers and fork out £100k on flowers4.me and everyone is a winner.

I know 'domain investing' is a term used, but really it is only investing when returns are solid, up to that point it is speculation.

As for 'Nobody cares if it's Montenegro or some other country and the like, people do and being in the wrong country can affect values and rights to own names either by legal jurisdiction or general stability.

Feel free to line up a horrible hat for me to eat if it becomes second to .com...

Hi Benj

I am 6 months down the road into Domaining and my advice is as good as anyones who is 6 months into it. I think .com is the premium name currently and .me may come into its own in years to come as they become more scarce, i think they will be hard to turn a profit now but as slow burners could work. Look at what works for .com now and think were .me could be in 3-5 years down the road. I think .co.uk is a safer bet - cheap to buy up and still opportunities away from the drop catch market still.

Good luck

Gib

.me :)

Hi,
I went O.T.T. and registered about 30 .me domains on the first day they were available to the public.
Beware with .me registration, you can't get a refund even if you change your mind the next day, ...I found out the hard way. Best thing to do... as the other domainer recommended is to keep your wallet closed and do your research!

I've just managed to recoup nearly half my costs of the 30 or so I registered by selling just 4 of them!
(the ones I sold are of the type ****able.me )
It's a far better ending than .im as in English, 'i'm' only makes grammatical sense at the start of a phrase not the end.
