Hi guys, Thought I would pop by & say hello. Solidarity with the ccTLDs and all that. I'm very bullish on ccTLDs esp the major ones and very down on .com. Some of you guys might have seen me on NP etc slagging off the .com market I'm ashamed to say I don't own any co.uk domains, despite originally coming from there. However I do have about 3,000 ccTLD (mainly .au) and help run www.netfleet.com.au which is our .au aftermarket site. Keen to get some .co.uk names so I thought I'd start here! Best Domain: Hobart.com.au Worst Domain: WaevingOz.com.au (typo of a long expired weaving forum) Cheers David |

Well if you don't own any .co.uks you've certainly come to the right place to buy some. My hunch would be that if you intend on selling .com.aus here you might not get too much interest, but as you're well versed in other extensions, there's no reason why you can't transfer your skills to this territory |

Thanks Rob, I'll do that. Accelerator, the market in .au is very young. Trading has only been permitted since June 08. Netfleet is the main aftermarket - we did about 40 transactions last month for about $25K if that gives you an idea. However IMO it's well positioned to grow strongly. There is a competive drop market and some big names involved (Fabulous, Trellian etc) and more & more people coming into the industry each day (inc for the first time non-australians) That's the other reason I thought I'd come over here - maybe glean some learnings from a more developed ccTLD aftermarket to help me plan for the future. Thanks for the welcome |

1) allowing monetisation 2) permitting trading You do still need an Aussie business number to register a domain. There is a type of number (an ARBN) that o/s entities can use I believe. It's not cost effective or worth the effort for a few domains but if you plan on 100+, it's quite viable. If you are interested there was a piece on one of our competitors yesterday in DNJournal With the ccTLD Market Booming Drop.com.au Joins the Growing Competition for Expiring Australian Domains | |
