Open Sef or similar

Im having a nightmare using Open Sef - has anyone done it and can help me out? - When I install it and activate it, all my content is unreachable both from the new and old URLS.

I didnt have much success with OpenSEF when ive tested in the past. Sounds like you may have some errors in your .htaccess.

Have you tried sh404sef? Ive found that pretty good.

Hi,

I haven't tried Open SEF but have used JoomSEF
and it does a decent job in my opinion. It has created duplicate URLS occasionally, which may have been something I did. I just turned off the automatic URL creation and it solved my problem.

On a related note, I've also used the free SEF patch provided by joomlatwork.com.
Some of the fixes may be duplicates of features provided by JoomSEF or other SEO Joomla! components.

Finally got round to using sh404sef a few minutes ago and its easier than scratching your arse.

Install, uncomment 5 lines in the .htacess file, go make coffee. Job done.

If anyone is looking to change the nasty Joomla URLS to something much more user friendly, then dont bother with anything else, go straight for sh404sef

Blimey! You took your time!

Its an excellent component and one that is always under heavy development and one of its best features is its integration with other third party components such as Community Builder and Sobi.
