Contact Fasthosts and they will pass the message on to the domain owner. I've received similar messages in the past.

Many moons ago they had a "blogging" section where you could shoehorn a link into the comments if you could get it past the moderators (had to atleast be topical). They were clean links but how much they helped it's hard to say.

Did the price you get for it cover the 20 years worth of renewals?

Done and have it now back. Ownership of the domain never legally/technically changed. They just removed it from my account and blocked me from renewing it after 30 days. Do you think they'd try and reclaim it somehow now its gone?

It's Namecheap - did you have any success moving the domain directly with Nominet?

Weird one this, any advice welcome! I had a .uk domain with a major US registrar. It's an old account that I only have that one domain with now. The domain expiry date came up, and no payment was made. After 30 days then domain was removed from my account and is now apparently been "purchased"...

Unless the domain is getting a healthy amount of type-in traffic I don't think this analogy really works? It's still going to require considerable investment to either compete in the serps or through social media advertising. Personally, I'd have rather bought a more generic <insert...

Waste of money. I had an Adsense blog for the 2006 world cup with a very similar name. It lasted a month before I got a takedown notice with a shopping list of reasons which also included use of the world cup trophy imagery in the logo :D

Ofcourse it costs more, it's a managed service lol. Nice affiliate link though :D
