Angry

For some reason ScottishRealEstate (.co.uk) has dropped off Google's search results completely, despite being on the first page up until yesterday. Is there any way to find out why? I didn't change the text enough to merit any huge changes -- anyone got any ideas what might have happened?

It is quite normal for a site to feature high for a few days even weeks after going live and then disappear, if it's a semi competitive term then your site needs trust (backlinks) or time before it will come back.

Hmm I see.. the term is pretty uncompetitive though, and I was 4th. Also, searching with the 'allintitle' switch doesn't show my site at all -- which is crazy because it's almost the only site with that precise string in the title.

Using a serps tool (from shoemoney) there is no ranking for my site.

Is it possible it's just getting re-indexed (as hammer has suggested)? Man, this seems like a black art.. with the omnipotent Google doing whatever it likes!

I've just re-read through this thread from the beginning and wondered if the posters wouldn't mind following up their earlier posts?
It would be interesting for all to see the progress. Especially from those who had just started with mini sites early on in this thread.

1. If you posted revenue being made now in comparison to what you posted then.

2. Did you find switching to unique content made a big differnece to your site?

3. Affiliate over adsense?

4. Link building tips?

5. Yahoo ads over adsense?

6. Did you switch back to parking?

Any other points raised early on.

Good idea hammer!

Another question: is it permissible to upload a minisite before all the content is written? This might seem like a daft question (I'm new to SE diddling) but if you throw up the site, with say 50% of the article you are writing (but which doesn't just stop, i.e. it's the kind of topic which you can write little or lots on and it will always look 'complete') then update it with the rest later, will this affect indexing? Do Google etc regularly crawl pages to check for updates?

I am not here to blow my own trumpet. 10 weeks ago I never even had these names. I only regd after reading this thread. So I'm writing to give something back.

Follow what has been said on this thread and what is above.

1. Reg an exact keword/phrase.
2. Insert unique content.

What sort of things have I been regin?

anorexia.me.uk
selfmutilation.co.uk
marinepollution.co.uk

Are they likely to sell? No they are not but they were not regd for selling, they were regd for adsense after reading this thread.

Here is one that is free to reg. Will it sell? No it won't but it will get clicks from the likes of school projects etc:

oceancurrents.co.uk

Thank you for all posters on this thread.

If things stay the same as they are, all names are paid for and I have 23 months @ £100 = a free 2 week holiday in the sun for me and my family every 2 years.

.
Scooter (sorry for referring to a 6 month old post) -- are you getting that kind of return from the sites in your sig? How are you promoting domains with so much competition? For instance, a quick search for osteoporosis on Google doesn't show your site in the first 4 pages. Same for bulimia.

They are pretty competitive terms -- I'd love to know how you're making them successful! If I could have the kind of returns you're seeing, I'd be laughing!

As most people do when starting a website you are talking about the obvious search terms, whereas the traffic for any successful website comes from the long tail terms, research this and you will succeed, ignore it and 99% chance you will fail.

Ahh, I see - thanks for the explanation. I've been incorporating some of the less obvious search terms (which generally have several words) from Wordtracker into the copy on my sites. What other strategies are there for catching long tail terms?

Thumbs up

I have just launched my third minisite - NoisyNeighbours.net

It follows the same layout as my other two, but I've added a couple of extra pages and I wrote (and researched) significantly more content for this site. Still had it finished within a day though.

I'm experimenting by not linking profusely to it. Several people in this thread seem to have had success with minimal SE 'marketing', so I'm going to try that too -- after my experience with my ScottishRealEstate.co.uk falling off Google for no reason whatsoever, I want to make sure I do nothing this time that will hurt my new site's ranking.

Any tips would be great! There are no links to the site anywhere as yet - if I am going to create some, do you think having one from this forum (i.e. by editing this post to contain a working link) is the best place to start, since this is a thread about making money with adsense?

Many thanks again to everyone for this amazing thread, this noob is learning lots and although no money has been made yet, I'm hopeful!
