As BFTUK said unique content is a must, more than just having unique content the idea of student essays/dissertations works for a few reasons, its long tail search words your looking to get traffic for. You don't have the time/energy to SEO each domain or do more than put a link to it so the actual content QUALITY used is very important.

You don't need to worry about single keywords or difficult ranking keyterms, the idea is to pick up traffic from long tail phrases that are specific and your quality unique content can catch.

For example I paid someone to write articles for a site Home & Office Furniture the quality of the articles is crap and that reflects in the crap traffic to it, having some unique content alone wont get you much IMO.

I then (lived & learned) paid someone to write some articles about tattoos for Tattoo Info, now I asked a tattooist to write the content for this site, $10 per article ~ that site gets traffic mostly from google, its not a mini site but one made quickly with a script and paying for quality articles.

So I'd vote against article sites, cutting up content trying to make it unique and find a source for good quality content/articles, when you do you can throw up 10 mini sites in under an hour, 10 sites that should be able to much more than pay for themselves. That's my take on it if it helps anyone.

Id pretty much agree. The article & your site are pretty informative, and it;s the stage I'm at with moving from parking to development for the top10% generic domains that would suit minisites.

I mentioned the article sites as an additiona resource. Still useful. Finding a suitable copyrighter isn't always easy. Giving them an idea of what the 'base' standard would be is good.

I think if you have type ins & traffic on your domians then a mini site would be a richer way to monetise that than parking domains, I dont know anything about domaining though or parking, I'm learning all the time as I experiment.

I'd love to have lots of domains with type in traffic though.

Ok, I've bought some unique content from

http://www.constant-content.com/index.php from Mary M. Alward.

It cost me £20 which is a bit too much I know, but I bought all rights, I didn't offer less, and it is just an experiment at this stage.

I bought the domain - fresh reg - http://www.moisture.org.uk to put it on.

Now I've listed it here to get some engines to see it. And Bob! (=uncle).

Objective is to get back twice the £20 plus reg fee of £6 in first year.

yesterday

edit: BTW I don't expect it to be this easy!

IS there a limit as to how many times Google will let you place Adsence on one page?

Looks good Yesterday, ran the page through copyscape.com and googled the main text and its certainly unique, as you say a bit expensive but an experiment in moisture is one worth trying.
