| NameDrive Staff | Payments and Updates
Time for a new thread, I think. It's been a while: Hi everyone, Great to see that so many of you tried us out - and stayed with us - through the rocky first two weeks of September and now it's time for us to pay you out for the month (and also to pay out August for those of you who were brave enough to be first in line). We will make the payments towards the end of this week and I know that some of you didn't set up a payout ID when you set up with us, so I'd ask you to do so before Thursday / Friday or we'll have to keep the money until next month Paypal people will get their money on Thursday / Friday whereas the rest of you will hopefully get it on the 10th as long as your banks don't drag their feet over the weekend. Just a couple of minor updates in the member area: The date is now sticky - So you can set it from September 15-October 3rd and when you go into a folder, it stays on that setting. - Just for you, Vizzy The default view when you go into a folder is now by the domains with the most views rather than alphabetical. Although many people have been asking for this for a while, I think it'll now take some getting used to! I know it will for me because I'm so used to going into an account and clicking 'views' as the first thing I do. The default view is now "last 7 days". This is so it's much easier to see how your domains have performed recently and is also much easier to see the stats for the last 48 hours that have not yet updated The dates will soon have "mon", "tue", "wed" next to them to make it a bit easier to see any patterns within a week. I know these are all minor changes, but having spent 2 of the last 3 weeks doing 'boring' things (dealing with massive influx of new traffic, dealing with DoS attacks, weeding out fake traffic etc...) we really want to spend the next few weeks implementing all the 'fun' stuff. So, get those Payout IDs updated, enjoy your new-look back office and keep the ideas for improvement coming to me at ed@namedrive.com. Hopefully, I can announce some big changes in coming week. How many times have I said that on the past few Mondays?.. But this is a fun week...! Did anyone ever see our great banner at the bottom of the Acorn pages by the way? Have a great evening. Ed

Don't worry, not really. It is left over from beta-testing time when we were planning to offer some paid-for services related to selling your domains, such as highlighting them on the homepage. This may still come in future, so we didn't want to get rid of the billing area. However, the important bit is the Payout area where you can set up a payout ID. Quote:
The portal pages are better for domains where people are looking for a broad range of information or for pages where it's hard to find targeted ads (for example searchengine.co.uk or ypijasfpoijasd.co.uk). 1-click ads are normally more targeted, but lower-paid than portal ads. However, portal ads often have slightly lower CTR than one-click ads, so it's swings and roundabouts. If you select a 1-click page with a very specific keyword e.g. 'Liechtenstein Culture Magazine' and there are no adverts on Google for the given keyword, then, instead of showing no ads at all, the system automatically puts up a portal page on the domain. All our pages have the same Related searches on there. The keyword you set for the related searches also governs the ads shown on the one-click pages. You can see a bit more on this here: http://namedrive.co.uk/sponsor_pages_samples.php?lang=e Quote:
To a certain extent, this is already implemented. The related searches on your domains are now self-learning. If several people come to your domain and search "Monty Python", then "Monty Python" will appear on the related searches. The related searches are also sorted by popularity, so the most-clicked, most-searched terms are at the top of the list. Hope you've all set up your payout IDs, then. Ed
