All quiet

Hi there everyone,

I've always seen silence on a forum as a good thing...

Though it does freak me out from time to time and I have to go and check that we still have UK people on board.

It would seem so. With more on board every day, so silence does appear to be golden after all.

I'm amazed that no-one's mentioned our new category system... What's it for? Why's it there? How exactly do I optimize my domains now?

Brace yourselves, things are going to come thick and fast. Silence on our side has been because of a lot of very hard work and we're looking at excellent results.

I'll leave it at this for now: Our optimization now has 5 levels. From the laziman option to the super-manic optimization option. We are currently writing a 'How to' which will be up in the member area by the end of the weekend. I'll leave it at saying that you should feel free to go and have a play with your domains. Where it says 'default' for the header, it will display the header for that specific category chosen. There are 21 to choose from to keep everyone happy.
My personal favourite addition though is the ability to see your domains' vital stats when optimizing. Which makes optimizing much more intuitive and effective.
We are rolling out a lot of great stuff to help optimization, it's just a question of displaying the data we already have in the back office. Those of you started out with us right at the beginning will remember asking me 'what's the Domain Report section?'. Well it will soon be making a comeback.

Hope you have a great weekend. I will be on here all weekend with updates on what's being rolled out of the ND barn - In the style of the A-team.

Ed

I've had no reason to post regarding Namedrive, I just log in a few times a day to check earnings and off I go again. (Happy as larry)

NameDrive must be earning a packet now - just took a look at britain.co.uk and noticed that huuuge advert on a good old London Bus

Must say that the site looks fab - assume that Edwin is more than happy with it.

all the changes are great Ed, the levels of customisation are excellent now..
However it would be nice to have a preview button to see your customised page before saving??
I suspect reloading the parked page to review how your page looks is also counting page views & adding to the stats..

It's not only the services of NameDrive that are impressive, it's the staff. I'm good friends with Edwardo and Greg; in the time I've known them both (and met Ed) they've always been pleasant, concise and forward-thinking! I love it.

I noticed the new category systems last night. Definitely an improvement... though redoing the domains already there is going to take time!

One improvement I'd add is a 'submit domains to my account' option at stage3. I added a large number of domains and configured with the new system only to find I wasn't logged in (timed out or not logged in). There's only the option there to create a new account, not submit to 'my account' with a login prompt at that point.

Other than that happy. A targetted newletter (anoter category system!) would be good.

Right, time to get back on here.

NameDrive bus LOL. I have a friend in high places who got us the gig on the bus...

Thanks for all the kind comments on here. Glad to see that things are still going well for people.

As you can see, the member area is evolving from v1.0 on a weekly basis. Last week, we got the afore-mentioned traffic stats working in conjunction with the optimization stats and the new categorisation. Let me just say that, althought the optimization looks different, you won't have to go through and re-optimize all your pages as the settings are still the same.

What do the categories do? Basically, they determine a) the header and b) the top four related searches on your domains. After some hefty consultations with you guys, us guys and our ober-parkers, we decided that the related searches needed to become less targeted while still being relevant and clickable. Thus the category, and for more targeted RS, the subcategory determine what the four top related searches are. The rest are then made up of your keyword selection and the self-learned searches from user behaviour on the page.

The magnifier will soon show how the entire page looks rather than just the RS. We will also have, hopefully by the end of this week v1.0 of our stats page, showing information we currently have - traffic origin, searches etc. As some of you will know, we originally had these built into the member area in August but they had to be removed as they weren't quite ready yet.

As I said, I've written a more detailed FAQ specifically for optimization as I feel our system offers such a bredth of options that it's easy to get a bit lost. Feel free to play around - esepecially with the headers and post any queries you have here and I'll get back to you on them.

Oh yes, Stephen. Sadly, you are not the first person to have experienced this. It's so infuriating that we need to find a solution to it asap, so we're on that.

More news tomorrow...

Have a great evening.

Ed
