Good point webs!
That's actually how I started!... buying only for myself with the intent to only build out myself. Then as I added clients, they too wanted names .. some of which never got used. The portfolio grew (along with apps to find decent names) and it was eventual that I started to unload some of them. A lot of my names I will still keep to develop myself. |

Hi HappyDomains.
I'm no expert on domain values (!!) but I just wanted to say scarcity is an important factor. This principle makes a mockery of any stratospheric appraisals. It's logical. For example, your domain iFiremen has no scarcity. eFireman is readily available so even if your name had a high value (unfortunately I don't think it does) nobody would pay that value when a perfectly good substitute is readily available for £6. Therefore, at the moment, it can't be worth more than £6 - somebody may be foolish enough to pay more, but that's a different matter. Conversely, the domain name LowPrices.co.uk has alot of value firstly because it's a great name, but secondly it has scarcity. Try to find an available substitute for the word 'low'. There just isn't anything of that quality available. Oh well, just wanted to make that point. All the best. Steve. Ps. Whoops, just realised I've bumped an old thread here. I bet iFiremen has sold to a Stripograms for 6 Gs. That'll teach me ! Last edited by stevef1fan; 20-06-2009 at 02:18:56 PM. |

Thx Steve ...
agreed with your comments and it's definitely about the keyword value. Which you are correct "firemen" has a fairly low value I have since learned over the last few months that high value keywords are what it's all about. Finding good keyword tools seems to work great |

Yes it's all about those keywords.
Even armed with that fact I still manage to reg some right clangers ! I suppose it's all a learning process. Cheers then. Steve. |

i've had some luck selling on the godaddy auction and been approached for a handful via sedo (didn't sell)
i've also had folks contact me directly about buying some names I haven't even advertised. basic rule would be to have a clear link on your domain for interested folks to contact you. also good to have at least an email address in the whois record! |
