How to transfer a .uk domain name

Sold a domain and unsure how the process works?

I often buy domains from people unfamiliar with the process, and thought the template I send to those sellers might be useful for others:

-------------------------------------------------------------

.uk transfers are handled differently to all other domains, and are handled directly through the registry, Nominet.

The instructions for transferring a domain are here:

Transfer

More specifically, follow these steps:

1) Login at https://secure.nominet.org.uk/auth/login.html

If you don't have your password, you can request it on the above page by entering the email address you used when you registered your domain.

2) Once logged in, click the "Your Domains" tab at the top.

3) Click "Registrant Transfer"

4) Click "Next"

5) Click each domain you're transferring then click "Add" in the middle.

6) Make sure you have all the domains you want to transfer in there, then click "Use Selected Domains"

The rest is self explanatory.

When asked for an email address, enter [ ] (buyer's email address)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure you have agreed with the buyer who will be paying the transfer fee because that is one of the questions you'll be asked.

FYI the transfer fee is £10+VAT whether you transfer one or more domains and VAT is waived for people outside of the EU.

I hope this helps!
