| Member | What do do with iNewquay.com / .co.uk
Hi all, So I recently acquired inewquay.co.uk and inewquay.com and intend to build some kind of Newquay related website. There are already loads of 'directory' style sites so I'm not sure if there's really much point in building yet another directory website unless I could add something of significant value. I was thinking perhaps of building some kind of hotel rating site - a bit like tripadvisor.com - I'm a skilled web developer, so I should be able to manage that with minimal problems - what do you think? I was wondering if I could pick some brains - what do you guys do with your geo domains? Do you have any examples? Thanks Andy |

All depends on the time, money and knowledge you have. An all out Newquay site about all the shops, hotels etc does take time and good knowledge if you want it looking OK. Pick a niche for newquay and go for that. Maybe just hotels, or internet related businesses, ?! Here's one I recently sold but gives you an idea on how big or small you could go This is whitby GOOD LUCK! |

I think I'm going to stick with the hotels idea as I don't really have time to be developing lots of content - if I build a review site the bulk of content will be provided for me and I have potential revenue avenues, such as charging hotels for 'rep' access where they can reply to individual comments about their hotel and naturally, adverts of some description once the traffic levels make it worth it. Out of interest... on your Whitby site do you enter your news and weather information yourself or do you use feeds to pull in the information from elsewhere? Thanks! |

You want to find a niche in that market - but you have iNewquay names - so how about highlighting some electronic aspects? You could highlight hotels that have wireless networks installed, internet computers in the lobby, or have WII games available to guests. You could feature local internet cafes. There's a particular pre-paid ISP that you could advertise, they give dial-up access on a 0800 number, so you can plug your laptop modem into the telephone socket in a lot of hotels and bypass the expensive and inadequate hotel services. I've got a couple more ideas from just thinking about the above ... but I think I'm going to use those myself! |

You have a point there... it'd definitely be worth me investigating and finding out of wifi etc is available in each hotel. That said, don't most people go to Newquay these days to get pissed or go surfing? Not sure wifi would be of much interest to them...

Remember your traffic is mainly going to be from young people and students so target your offers accordingly. Rgds
