The hyphenated version you can lose traffic to the non hyphen domain, so you should take that into consideration. However if the non h domain is down the serps you have an opportunity to get above them (at the risk mentioned above).

depending on search volumes & sector the .net may be worthwhile but you'd prob have to work hard on unique content, updating the site, getting backlinks, listings and maintaining the site regularly.
