me.uk worth it?

Do .me.uks have any disadvantage in relation to ranking? Also, are there likely to be any futurue restrictions on the names owned? (i initiially thought that the names were fr personal use, or had to relate to you 'me' as an individual, but that seems not to be the case).

The intention was for people to register their own names as .me.uk. That's the thinking behind the name, to register your own name as a .me.uk.

Bear in mind the fact that a commercial registration will be a keyphrase and not conflict with a personal reg, why would Nominet get upset about commercial registrations.

My view is, ultimately, commercial registrations help UK business, I can't see Nominet raising major objections, what would be the point? Also, it would be extremely difficult to enforce, as all registrations would then have to be checked manually, which I'm sure they don't want to do.

Just my 2p... I have couple of good generic me.uk domains. Unfortunately haven't had chance to do much work on them. But still, one of them is floating between page 1 and 2 on yahoo at the moment for a highly competitive generic word (over 350000 UK exacts). With some extra effort it could be a hit, I guess.

P.S. It's even in my sig

Further to that, if someone has registered bloggs.co.uk, then why wouldn't they register bloggs.me.uk? There are no restrictions to say the person has to be called Bloggs, just that the registrant needs to be an individual, so are (almost) just as open to "abuse" as .co.uk and .org.uk.

So why have the additional restrictions, when it is just a half measure? Surely it has to be all or nothing? (Preferably nothing!!

I don't know what all the fuss is about to be honest. They're the least popular of the three SLDs, good luck to anyone who can put them to any use. God knows there are tens of thousands of .co.uk & .org.uk's not being used for any purpose whatsoever, it's a tad perverse to question anyone who takes the trouble to develop a .me.uk.
