Auction sites

I have a .net generic which I have been holding onto for far longer than is sensible. Not having ever actually sold any domains before I have no way of valuing what it is actually worth so was considering letting the market decide via auction.

Any idea who is the best, or is auctioning just a bad idea?

Probably best to put it up for appraisal first, there is quite a few that are familiar with Gtld values here at Acorn. At least that way your expectations may be set more accurately prior to pushing it to auction.

The .net extension can be a difficult sale, unless we are talking about a super key word or term that naturally fits the .net (network) extension. There was a time a few years back when .nets could command 10% of .com prices but those days are long gone, with .org probably commanding the stronger alternative prices. put the term in this thread, I'm sure Admin won't mind

Thanks for the advice Bailey. The domain in question is banneradvert*net. I used to use it as an adserver domain for some content sites but I've just been sitting on it for ages now. Really should get rid of it but for some reason I got quite attached to it.

I may have owned this many years ago (or maybe the .com). It really rings a bell.

One of the issues is that this doesn't work in the US market where they don't say advert.

They say ads or advertisements.

I think that if you were to sell then it would be xx to low xxx

Yeah sorry, id say this would be a pretty low one.

.net certainly isnt cool anymore.. if it were a .co.uk might have helped it..
