![]() | Wordpress?
Morning All After all of the good advice I have recieved so far I decided to take the plunge and sort myself out with wordpress, that's were the fun began. I read through the setting up pages; don't understand a word of it! Not to be deterred I carried on reading and have figured out the following: Need a host but which one, I use Godaddy and 123reg to buy names and I know they do hosting, evo seems to come highly recommended also? How much hosting do I need? Will my host help me set up wordpress? Then I have to download wordpress and do some file stuff? Seriously losing the will to live at this point ![]() Assuming I figure out which host and how to download wordpress, is it then on my computer to build mini sites then when they are done I upload them to my host or is the program hosted on my host so I build sites on there like Blogger? As you can see I haven't got a clue what I am talking about and advice would be appreciated; preferably in plain English. I still have a couple of fellow Acorners to contact who offered help but I am one of those people who believe in trying to help myself first so please don't think I am ignoring your kind offers. Thank you Aiden |

Wow, ok. Don't think of it in terms of being complicated - it's not. The easiest thing to do is find a web host that offers a one-click install of WordPress. Then make sure you choose a hosting package with them which allows you to do a one-click install (i.e. probably not the most basic one). Your web host is highly unlikely to offer WordPress support; however the wordpress.org forums are really helpful. I think once you've installed WP you'll see it's actually really simple and intuitive; if you have no problem using this forum then you'll have no problem using WordPress. I'm not going to recommend a web host to you because I work for one so I'm biased, but I'm sure there will be plenty of recommendations. |

I always use Fantastico, part of my WHM and cPanel to install Wordpress, very easy and simple process. Good luck with it.

It's quite simple, and wordpress is so good once you get use to all the features and benefits, used to make sites without using a propper cms, and it took ages, especially to update etc. But wordpress is good because it's easy to add content make changes, and make a fairly decent looking site For my domains, I use 123reg for .co.uk, but for my hosting I use http://www.galaxywebsolutions.com/ which has been pretty good for past few years. I think I finally have made a decision: 123 offer unlimited for a small amount, I can press a button and it sets wordpress up for me and I can have as many sites as I want on there. I understand this way I do not need to download worpress on to my computer and do the setting up stuff. Phew I am glad thats figured out Thanks Aiden |

What package are you going to go for their. If you plan on creating many minisites using wordpress or another cms then the number of databases on the two cheaper options may cause you headaches

Hey Thanks I was looking at the top one apparently I can have many domains on there and I get 3 domain names as part of the deal so seems like a good deal? Any other suggestions are appreciated, I have made hard work of making this decision but haven't done it yet so still open to persuasion ![]() Thanks
