Am I going in the right direction

My plan of action is to stick to areas of my own interests, keep the names simple and check Google Adwords for exact matches.

I have just registered...

theoryofrelativity.co.uk

Theory of relativity gets the folowing exact matches...

33,100 per month global
2,400 per month local

I would hope this is worth more than the registration fee? (I'm not asking for firm valuations.)

Hopefully Einstein won't sue me for using his trademark

OK dokey, so what are your plans for it now? Development or just leave it 'parked'?

What do you think the value is, you registered it?

I am new to this so I think I would be foolish to put my own value on it, it can only be worth what people are willing to pay for it. I have been reading through this forum and other than my original bashing I have found it very useful and use some posts as a guide. From what I have seen those exact search results would make a profit compared to the registartion fee given that it is probably the best known theory in the world, I know it probably won't make me a millionaire though!

I am not from an IT background just looking at investments to beat low interest rates so I guess i will just park it?

There you go then, that's the answer you're looking for. If you feel it's worth more than reg fee to a potential buyer, stick to your guns, park it up for sale and hope for the best to make a profit sometime. It might take a month, it might take ten years, it may never happen....

Personally I wouldn't have registered it, but that's my opinion, domaining is often extremely subjective as I'm sure you realise.

As for your 'bashing' - I didn't perceive it as this. You were given sound advice, skilled and insightful opinion that was offered in the spirit of friendliness and which you appeared to give little credence to.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice.

I am not intending to regsiter similar names that could be subjectively deemed to impose on Apple's TMs. When I registered just those 2 domain names I wasn't aware of any legal issue. I have taken credence because I am not looking for names that could be viewed as infringing TMs. Plus even though I lack in IT experience I am commercially savvy and despite the legal arguement regardless of cost I am not the sort of person who just throws money down the drain no matter how little it may be. As for the "spirit of friendliness" I am sure you will admit that some posts were not in this spirit and yet not one of my posts retalliated or lowered myself to that level, I am not that sort of person. In your eyes I made a mistake, I think it is subjective but as not to offend anyone on here I won't register similar names in the future but I am not going to throw my money down the drain (and probably watch someone very quickly re-register the same names).

It doesn't have a commercial use so it's worthless imo. Stick it on Sedo but I'm 99.9% sure you won't find a buyer for it.

I'd drop it come renewal time if you still have it.

We've all been there. Better luck next time .

My tip to you would be: Don't focus solely on exacts - it is just one of many many factors to consider before registering a domain.

Many (at least 50%) of the domains I sell to end users get very low exacts, and in some cases, no exacts at all.

Thanks, so what is the main things you look out for and in what order of priority?

Also, is there any way around the 60 days no transfer if someone is interested before the 60 days is up?

I agree with Rob, having said that though if it's in your area of interest and you get around to doing something with it then it's not a bad punt for a fiver. I don't think you'll have anyone knocking your door down for it though.

As for the other thread, whether you viewed it as friendly or not, you were given sound advice by everyone regarding the TM domains. Please please please take a hit on them and cancel them with Nominet - believe me, I wish I'd been given that sort of advice a few years back!
