If I understand your question correctly:

The figure given represents the amount of monthly searches based on how you have set your keyword tool up and has nothing to do with the extension com/net/org.

The keyword tool can be set up for countries, and even areas and granted some extensions will rank better in certain places but this has nothing to do with the amount of search results returned as it doesn't know what extension you have got.

If I have misunderstood your question then I apologise.

YOu may not be able to hand reg a domain in those extensions if the keyword has high search volume.

No problem, use a keyword tool as a guide only as they are often way off the mark. Spend time finding your way around the keyword tool but don't rely on it in isolation.

Aiden is correct. Having said that, trust the courage of your convictions. Monitor the news - what's not hot today may be your huge sale tomorrow.

When doing this, make sure what you register is as generic as possible.

BBC News is your friend - Google is temporal

Yes that's what I have been doing, looking around and specially BBC as it tends to bring whatever is important news/information, but again what would be the required minimum search to go for a keyword, I know it might not be straightforward as the one that has less today ( searches ) might be more tomorrow but again some say that even if the searches are low, still it might be interesting as ranking 1st in 1000 is better than 100 in a 10000000 or so

Depends on market as well.

You'd want jewellery.co.uk but not jewelry.co.uk for example. On the other hand, jewelry.com would open up the market a lot more compared to a somewhat less valuable jewellery.com.

Can I ask why? I would have thought .com was more valuable with the correct spelling or do you mean due to high competition you could feed off the typo?
