when you get an accepted email from nominet you get an account Id for that domain, when you log onto your master account in the dropdown that ID number should be there, just select it and log in..if you dont see it i would call nominet as thats what i had todo and they sorted it for me.

All my domains are in one account. I don't get a dropdown and no tag to click on. Ho hum.
I suppose I'll phone Nominet.

You need a secure login/pass for both registrar and registrant, if you're a registrar. When you log in as a registrant, you'll see your drop-down list of accounts. Colin. ask for Liam Fisher - he's hot on this stuff.

You can have any or all your domain names manageable within your registrar account if the registrant of those domain names matches the name on the registrar account. I know because we've got nearly thirty domain names within ours that are registered to the same legal entity as the registrar we operate.

If you're finding that some of your domain names are missing you may need to get Nominet to activate all accounts for the email address(es) you have listed as the contact(s) for those domain names. It then makes sense to merge all of the account-ID's into one [per registrant]. This is easier to do with the automaton BULK command if you have access to it, or can get your registrar(s) to do it for you. Again we've recently had a number of our registrants consolidate all of their domain names under one or just a few account-IDs. Some of this required Nominet to do some manual editing of the registrant field where, for example, a company name had a comma or a full stop neither or both in. The registrants were then able to complete final consultation.

Perhaps consider sticking your highly valuable domain names into one or more separate accounts with a more complicated password than your general account, even if the registrant name is identical.

Unfortunately what screws the whole thing up are registrars that don't allow registrants to specify an account-id at time of registration so yet another superfluous account, which then requires merging via Nominet online, is created. One thing to note is that account-id's cannot traverse registrars, so one for each registrar you use is mandatory.

Finally once all consolidation is completed, send a secure email to Nominet from inside your main account using the form provided asking them to delete any orphaned account-id's or contacts-id's. This means they won't pop up when you login to Nominet online (or inside Nominet online) messing up the drop down menu's.

Phoned Nominet and sorted it out at last. Now I have 'Your Domains' on my menu.

Why don't they have a field in the registration, that says the registrant and registrar are the same person? It would make the accounts much easier to merge.

Response by Nominet over VAT issue's for non-resident transfers;

Quote:
The issue here is that previously tag change and transfers were paper based and so did not qualify for the VAT exemption.

With the new online services they are now potentially VAT exempt for foreign customers.

Basically this is a systems issue which is being fixed (scheduled for August) so that we will automatically make these transactions VAT exempt. But until then the system does not have the information to distinguish between the domestic and non UK transactions and so we charge VAT across the board.

You can reclaim the VAT back directly from HMRC (revenue and customs - HM Revenue & Customs: Home Page)

They havn't sorted it for the Nominet yearly subscription. Found myself paying 17.50 pounds for no good reason.

Ouch! Why are you going direct? Most registrars don't charge close to 17.50.

BTW, my next job is to work my way through the Gov site you posted and see if I can get refunded for past VAT charges. Thanks for the link.

Fee Schedule

It's a Tag holder thing "Annual subscription £100.00"

Your welcome. It's always good to remember when you go on holiday in countries that have value added tax e.g. VAT or GST to hold onto the receipts, as you leave you can claim this tax back.
