Thanks for the reminder - I've now voted on that, and on the AGM resolutions.

    Just voted for Phil.

Not sure what to vote for in the AGM resolutions.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Thanks for supporting Phil.

    On the AGM Ordinary Resolutions:

    http://www.nominet.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Nominet_notice_of_agm_2016.pdf

    I voted FOR 1 and 2 and then AGAINST 3 and 4

As I'm not in favour of ex Government types or 'portfolio' workers being appointed to the Nominet board:

    Andrew Pinder CBE
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Pinder

    Jane Tozer OBE
    http://www.boardmentoring.com/mentorexpanded/TozerJane.php

    Also...

I didn't like the way they were appointed already without a membership vote.

Jane Tozer replaced Oliver Hope when he resigned to become Director of Registry Services.

Then as Piers White is leaving at this AGM she now has an appointed seat available to move in to. There should have been another election or second place winner before now on Oliver Hope's elected seat - still it does mean we get an election this year.

Andrew Pinder replaced Clive Grace who now has become chair of the Nominet Trust after being on the Nominet board for 6 years.

I voted for Phil earlier and didn't know anything about the AGM resolution stuff, so I've gone with your suggestion of for 1 and 2 and against 3 and 4, cheers.

Another election would have taken several months to arrange and would have been unnecessarily expensive. That's why the system is in place to temporarily appoint a new NED if one resigns.

It wouldn't have been possible to comfortably determine a third place winner based on the election that had run in 2015. Voters voted the way they did in part because they knew there were two vacant seats and some voters may have voted differently if they had known that there would be three. Deciding weeks after the vote had occurred that there would be a third elected seat filled from the result would have been improper particularly, for example, if some who had voted in that election had only chosen to vote for two candidates.

As I know and work with them on the Board I find them both highly competent and are gaining a good understanding of the domain name industry. I've spoken with both on plenty of occasions and have discussed the industry including our secondary market sector. I'm aware that Andrew Pinder isn't simply an ex Government type and has many private sector links. Neither are anywhere near daft and both contribute well.

Please consider attending the AGM and meeting both. I'm not aware that Andrew Bennett (posting) has met either, yet. Andrew, if you attend I'll be pleased to introduce you. :)

Oh I've met David plenty of times - the same goes for the other "elected" board members...

He means meeting Andrew and Jane to find out more about them before they are "appointed" for three more years...

Well despite being on the board for 8-9 months already:

Jane was appointed to the Board in August 2015
    http://www.nominet.uk/people/jane-tozer-mbe-obe/

Andrew was appointed to the Board in July 2015
    http://www.nominet.uk/people/andrew-pinder-cbe/

I've only seen Andrew at the Registrar Conference in January. I'm not invited to "key partner" events and they don't post on the Nominet forum.

So perhaps David could explain when I'm supposed to meet them? Once a year at the AGM ?

It really doesn't make sense that nominet don't regularly have you in for meetings, if only as an adviser, they can afford it.

They obviously can't see that they are almost at the point of no return.

If you arranged to have your own meeting you might find you walked away with a different perspective after you had rather than making the above sort of statements. Andrew (posting) has his view. Why not meet others and give them the opportunity to make you aware of their views too and to provide you with all the information.

Since neither Andrew Pinder or Jane Tozer are aware that you'd like to meet with them they aren't going to contact you. However I'm confident that if you or any other Nominet member decided they would like to speak or meet them they'd be happy to arrange to do so. Email Nominet and ask to be put in touch.

Would any Nominet member like to arrange to meet with me or speak with me by Skype or telephone? Email me to make arrangements.
