    Hi All,
I’m newbie to this forum. I have owned Christmas.co.uk since 1998 and have chosen not to develop it. Having turned down offers over the years, I am now ‘ready’ to sell. Offers have been wide ranging and I’m not sure how realistic any of them were as I didn’t pursue any of them. I would be interested in anyone’s thoughts as to the domain’s current value and offers?

Great name. I'm scratching my head on valuation, because it's difficult to know how much value you could unlock with the name (and that's obviously dependent on what business model a buyer comes up with). If you've got lots of previous offers for the name, then whether or not those buyers are still in the market at least you've got a list of prospective purchasers who you could reconnect with.

What an introduction! Welcome to the forum!

I'd wouldn't know where to begin with a value for this but it' a fantastic name, especially for online retail.

"Online retail rose by 11% in the Christmas period and accounted for almost one-quarter (24.4%) of Christmas spending. Online sales rose from 16.64 bn (2014) to 18.57 bn, Much of this was click and collect. The dynamism of online sellers perhaps explains why Christmas 2015 was such a problem for many stores-based UK retailers."

"Online retailing achieved almost one-quarter of all retail spending this Christmas, thus passing another milestone in its (so far) triumphal march through the conventional retail industry."

Got to be six figures surely? Maybe more?

Six figures (definitely high five) I agree with but not seven. :)

Depends who wants it and how motivated they are. A big retailer with a budget to burn through might just be interested in spending to acquire it. Incredibly memorable and a lot of goodwill in the term.

I have 'LoveFrom.com' which could be a nice gift site.

It's a great name, but it doesn't say gift-related ecommerce to me. I'd steer towards something more closely related to Christmas if it were me.

I'm sure there will be plenty of buyers. I'd expect mid-high five figures.

Since my last post I’ve added a For Sale notice and a GA screenshot to the home page of Christmas.co.uk showing over 1.8M search terms for Q4 in 2015 to try and add some sense to the valuation and ward off time-wasters. Since then I’ve turned down a low five fig offer, got another on the table from a different party (both substantiated) and an abusive responder hoping to get it for peanuts (or chestnuts). I really don’t mind enquiries, but why do people get so abusive if we’re not on the same song sheet? As if I’m going to say ‘well reasoned argument, ok it’s yours’!

If I was trying to sell it, I would write a well-crafted sales letter and then post it out to anyone I thought might be interested.

Then see what offers you get.

There is also a good potential PR angle with "Man is Selling Christmas" to raise the profile of your domain sale.

Sorry but I don't see them buying it. They just add a Christmas Shop to their sites. They won't want the overhead of running a separate site.

Interesting. I've had an offer albeit below my valuation, from a major retailer in the last 4 days.

... but not M&S and John Lewis. I would say they are too big to want it, as it wouldn't make enough of a difference to them to be worth the extra site admin. Also they don't have a history of using multiple domains.

Not heard of positive PR? I'd say that kind of retailer are perfectly aligned for this kind of domain.

Really? I don't think so. Explain to me why you see M&S or John Lewis buying christmas.uk any time soon. Let's hear your arguments. I have said they are too big to want it, and I stand by that. Why would they want the overhead of running a site like this? Why would they start using another domain when they have no history of doing this up to now?

Yes that's my feeling with this domain. It's called thr 'halo' effect. And I would hope that none would want the other to have it (well I can hope!)
