I'm trouble implementing some php news code that works from an XML file If the xml doesnt exisit it creates the file but when creating the news file, i get this error: Warning: DOMDocument::save(news.xml) [domdocument.save]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/public_html/news2/add.php on line 81 I have also noticed that i cant upload an XML file the server - is there something i need to change? any help much appreciated

Obvious question? - You do have file write permissions on the directory you are putting the xml file into?

yeap full permissions 777 add works fine, edit and delete dont

Does the script have write permissions ? One of my clients servers has to have the EXACT chmod settings due to some whacky settings. I think it has to be set to 775, anything else and the script is blocked, on the same client, you have to chmod the script/file, the created (xml file) AND the directory. Can you try all that ?

have tired no luck trouble is it didnt work on the developers server either - so cant be sure its permissions or bad code. Normally with permissions you get an on screen error - i'm getting nothing

can i "big up" davedevelopment who kindly took on this coding issue and fixed it! very much appreciate the advice and services given by the members of this forum especially when its saved me a lot of head scratch and stress . . dummies guide to php would have been tomorrows purchase!  Dave - top man - many thanks again for your assistance with this note to self: dont take on jobs that require php!
