I've had it indexed with google for some time but still no rank.

could anyone help. I've not used any underhand tactics.

But!... Title tags are incredibly important for SEO... Your first word is spelt incorrectly!! Proof read!

If you want to increase this then you must get backlinks to your site, you have only a handful at the moment.

You need to promote your site and hope other related sites to link to yours.
Add your site to the thousands of free directories out there.
Write an article and submit it to the many free article sites out there.
Try contacting other site owners in your niche and ask them for a reciprocal link.

If Google finds lots of relevant links to your site, your page rank will increase.

Also - Google tends to increase page rank based on the age of your site, so patience really is a virtue.

Keep working on site promotion and page rank will come with time.

OK - first things first!

You NEED to remove your meta description - it is completely pointless and will do you more harm than good!

Replace it with a brief description of that page (do this on each page of your site)
eg: <META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="...brief summary of web page...">

Also on each page you need to add meta keywords. Again keep them brief and keep them relevant to each pages content!
eg: <META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="sex, drugs, rock & roll">

Google will like you a whole lot more if you tidy this up!
(and correct your spelling as mentioned above!)

Granted I did stick up a div'd up version yesterday without checking it.

i use a link exchange to invite similar sites to contact me if they want a link - this is not a link farm but will it cause me problems?....it doesn't seem to have affected other uses of the site

Also, my page rank seems to be NA not 0 - does this mean they've not even noticed my site?

Check your page rank here: Page Rank
It is showing as 0/10 across the datacentres, so google is aware of your site, it just doesn't think it has more than 0 value - yet!
You have to give it time, the last PR update occurred at the start of August, it will be another 3 months before you will notice any change, so forget about it for now and concentrate on optimising ALL your pages.
You need RELEVANT keyword and description META tags on ALL your pages, DO NOT put an inaccurate description and DO NOT use keywords that don't appear in that pages content.

Link exchanges are a bit of a grey area, if you think it may be bad, then avoid it. Concentrate on gaining genuine links (one-way links are much better than reciprocal). Optimisation takes time, and it can be months before you will see genuine results, stick with it, and be patient.

i can get you listed within 2 weeks and listed over 300 to 400 times in 60 days across the board with page rank within normally 90 days, listed on yahoo, hundreds of time, and live/msn plus quite a few other of the smaller portals, the cost isn't that much considering what all the work i do but i do offer if after 90 days you don't get the desired results or rather what i said i would do your funds are refunded, to set it up generally takes me about a full day, i require half to begin and the balance when finished, pm me or email or icq me if interested.
