UK domain values are low because we stockpile good names which causes businesses to use inferior names but they don't care and prosper regardless

I think there are a lot of variables here. Considering the point that 'values are low', I'd question relative to what? In a UK context vs larger countires and global, there are fewer potential users of a .uk domain, fewer customers for businesses using them vs a global market and businesses have...

How can I track down lost access to a .com?

Thanks for the offer. We managed to regain access today. Your offer was very much appreciated and would have been the fallback, but we managed to make some headway just before Christmas and finally got through today. It included digging out old property leases and accounts from 1992 as...

How can I track down lost access to a .com?

Thanks @Helmuts Also want to shout out @NetFocus who has provided proof that we are the registrant (albeit an old office address) and helped us pick up the trail that the original company we transacted with had been acquired, then that company acquired again, with Joker.com being the registrar...

Gone full circle again via standard support routes. Does anyone know anyone at joker.com for a more personal conversation?

How can I track down lost access to a .com?

Thanks. Not a lot. I think they were acquired by GTT because that's where the trail ends, but GTT claim they have no record.

How can I track down lost access to a .com?

Last renewed 10 years ago. Coming up for expiry this month, though that is coincidence. Director knew they owned it, agreed to start using it, then realised no one had access. Will suggest catchall email to their IT team, thanks.

How can I track down lost access to a .com?

I've gone back to the registrar outlining that we've not been able to progress with the reseller they referred us to. I've asked what their dispute resolution process is in light of the steps. Let's see if they can confirm a process or refer us to ICANN.

How can I track down lost access to a .com?

Going round in circles a bit so any advice welcome. I am helping a client that believes they own a .com registered 10+ years ago. The WHOIS states their business name, but all other info private. The people who would have registered left the company years ago and not contactable. The registrar...

Nominet Nominet named .gov.uk registry operator

@Whois-Search kindly navigated me through the convoluted process of registering a .gov.uk when I built a website for my local Parish Council. Hopefully Nominet can streamline.

    Macbook Pro advice: 16inch M1 or 14inch M2

I purchased the M1 16" about a month before the M2 came out - typical timing. But performance is still excellent, boots up adobe suite in an instant and handles very large Google Sheets, Excel/CSV exports and Parallels easily. I'd usually buy newest model to last longest, but for me the bigger...

I've signed up to attend. Hope to see some familiar faces after such a long time! I think Nominet's Lord's Cricket event was the last time I was sociable :D

    Small businesses using generics

It redirects now, but really like the idea of a farmer registering it in the early days. I assume it was registered rather than acquired anyway.

    Small businesses using generics

Since getting involved with domain names it makes me smile when I see a small business using a generic. I was on holiday in Northumberland last month and while walking through the small village of Craster came across a fish smokers using the domain kipper.co.uk Anyone else got similar...

What is the general value of NNN .uk & .co.uk ?

I am aware of a NNN.co.uk that sold privately for £xxx, xxx many years ago which I can't divulge... but I've never managed to sell one for more than £100 myself. Had a handful of 0NN.co.uk's a few years back which I sold for between £50 and £100. Unless there's meaning or they lend themselves to...

    301 redirect - HTTP / HTTPS question

I wouldn't have thought so. I mean, 301 doesn't pass all 'link juice' (see https://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection), but with https being best practice, and this method reducing the number of redirects I can only assume it's better than chaining it or at least neutral.
