Sedo A Dodgy Selling Venue?

Hi,

I am Rob, you might remember from such threads as "Sedo . selling a UK problem - Sedo clueless".

A brief history:

Shopping.org.uk was won on Sedo Auction and paid 2nd May.

At the same time I was asked about domaining and mentioned how Sedo have the knack of losing sales and I was not 100% convinced the Shopping.org.uk transfer would go through, I think I cursed it.

I have been told the seller is not returning messages left, 'having problems with forms' and perhaps the best one:

"Please inform us if you would like to cancel the transfer otherwise we will have to try to contact him again"

OH NO! Please dont try again!

The bloke in question / company is:
Domain: internetweit.de
Domain-Ace: internetweit.de
Descr: Roland Seiber
Descr: Die Webagentur internetweit
Descr: Ostendstr. 72
Descr: 70188 Stuttgart
Descr: DE

On top of this I was please to see the speedy Sedo service:

To: someoneatsedo
Cc: domainowner
Subject: RE: Payment for shopping.org.uk Received
Sent: 30/05/2007 14:54

was read on 07/08/2007 19:43.

For the thickos at the back that is an email sent in MAY being read in JULY!

After looking today at the emails with a view to take this further I noticed I had a dig about and found that Roland or his company were mashing up Sedo parking pages and redisplaying them. I mentioned a few other domains etc to Sedo.

One would expect that such a user with a poor track record would be banned, however if you are feeling so inclined you can still buy his names via Sedo how about blind-d8.de for one Why is that still possible?

Sedo's public response on acorn has been to say the transfer agent has been working very hard to get the transfer completed, which does not tally with the preference to cancel rather than keep chasing.

Oddly enough on the SelfMadeMinds page Nora posted a reply stating "The responsibility to pursue a sales contract is entirely down to the domain seller" however I cannot have the sellers contact (email and telephone) info which makes that quite hard.

All good fun, and even nicer to see that Sedo is quoted as releasing sales data for this domain as a 'sold' domain.

I will be persuing this one further, and hopefully once I get in touch with the seller it will not be like SealedBids.co.uk sale which sedo 'lost' , but on contacting him he was exceedingly angry with sedo and almost canceled the transaction.

Will keep everyone posted on how this turns out...

Cheers,
Rob.

Please can you email your Sedo transfer agent to discuss this matter further.

I'm not sure what his email address is but I think it may be frank.spencer@sedo.co.uk

Ooooooh, Betty, that's a great one! LOL.

On a serious note - Rob, look forward to reading your updates on this, good luck with it.

Ditto.

I'm not a fan of the sedo system. They should ban people who dick around.

That being said, i recently purchased a domain via sedo, and it was done and completed within a week...

Cheers, will be a long slog I think as it is German legal jurisdiction and a seemingly unhelpful Sedo.

As for Frank Spencer, I heard that Sedo had the benny hill theme tune as hold music. Could be wrong though

I am guessing it is the same person who gets the rev on names that point to Sedo's nameservers when they are not added to a users account.

Hi Rob,

I was so upset about reading this, my beret fell off.

On a serious note, you are absolutely right to be upset about this. Whether to cancel a transaction such as shopping.org.uk is a big subject of discussion here at Sedo - although you have an extreme case there, we have a lot of transfers with customers rightly upset that the other party isn't fulfilling their obligations. Rather than setting deadlines, we go with the wishes of the 'wronged' party in each individual case. For example, you would be well within your rights to cancel this transfer, get a refund and pursue legal action against the seller.

If you decide you would like to persevere with the transfer, that is of course your decision, but please be aware that we can only cajole/persuade/annoy/threaten with account suspension, we cannot do the transfer for them. I don't want to comment too much on this individual transfer as it isn't mine and I don't know what conversations you have had with your transfer agent, but I repeat, whichever course of action you choose, you would have our support.

As far as punishing people for behaving as this seller has done, I agree, and will be bringing this up in our meeting today.

Any questions/comments about this, feel free to e-mail me or give me a call.

Regards,

Shaun

That is looking like the course of action, just waiting on further advice.

I would be interested to know if the latter has been done, however going by this one user using your PPC ads in a mash up I do not think he gives a toss

Thanks - let me know how it goes!

Feel free to nip up to Koln or give the bloke a ring and see what is what, as the http://www.internet4.de and http://www.internetweit.de seem to own a fair few domains and for a German speaker it could be very easy to chase up on the phone.

I only have GCSE level so I could direct him to the station down the street on the right and enquire what sport he likes to play, but not discuss the ins and outs of transferring a .uk .

Cheers,
Rob.
