Sedo Acceptance = Implicit Endorsement of Cybersquatting?

Dear Sedo,

It could be worth reviewing your acceptance method of domain names as it seems user are seeing Sedo's acceptance of a listing of a name as ok'ing cybersquatting

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/top-le...tml#post189320

"f there was a problem why would sedo let me place it on there site remember i bought this after the trademark holders had there chase to buy

Time to take a stand and clean things up?

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/domain...aph-co-uk.html

Is another thread that indicates the mixed messages given out, eg. dont cybersquat , but if you do Sedo does parking.

Cheers,
Rob.

The mint.tel thread has now been pulled, but the user had posted multiple TM names with abusive parking pages - eg. a Barcalys name with a banking landing ppc page, and used the above quote to justify it.

Why not start with banning them, personally I'd like to see them gone from here on several reasons. The droplists and DAC changes being one. They serve no purpose to the wider domain community imo.

He has been banned.

I did wonder if we should have an AD policy against posting TM domains, but then I'd have to do a lot of research on the sales threads especially if someone posts long lists.

I also don't scan my available lists for TMs either.

Sorry mate I wasn't speaking about 100-1, more thinking out loud about my hopes of Sedo being banned.

The way they (cough Domcollect) have benefited from the new DAC rules and shown no concern at all for the other domainers. Shown no concern on Nomsteer for the changes yet holding one of the biggest voting rights.

Hold TM's on there system while holding the moral high ground and slagging others off for buying TM's.

Not having a go at anyone just pointing out that their presence here may be doing more harm to domainers than good.

Cheers
GW

Domcollect aint fussy, they reg anything with a sniff of traffic including blatant TMs themselves.

So hope someone with big wallet decides to takes them on - LOL

They get away with alot coz they say 'if this is your name, show us proof and we'll hand it over'.

I know Ferrari for one, would want paying NOT to sue you. Its like yeah for a grand per name, we'll not sue you until you scream yeah daddy do me harder, or we'll sue you for fun. We sell 1 car and can sue you for 10 yrs, you think we care ?

Thats pretty much what ferrari say heh.

A few things :

1st lets all copy and paste Sedo content and put this disclaimer
" if this is your content please tell me and i will remove it "

I recently read an article with a member of Sedo staff advising against cybersquatting, Erm ?

I would like to see registrars take a more positive approach to TMs

eg, I put into 123-reg search box MAC to see who owns it on .co.uk

Their alternative suggestion was Macbooksonline = TM issue

Admin : if any TMs in expiring/drop list then members can report post and explain which ones are TMs.

Maybe time for all of us to have a no-nonsense attitude and stamp it out.

You can't sell guns, recreational drugs on Ebay so illegally owned domains shouldn't be allowed on there or forums.

I has most domainers have had some iffy domains but i cancelled mine and MY EYES ARE WIDE AWAKE !!!

How about a name and shame section, list domains registered in bad faith, obviously don't post all of who-is info but you can post the registrants name.

My opinions

Thanks Andy

As for posting info and naming and shaming, from experience if your going to throw stones or set fires make sure you have reinforced windows and fantastic insurance.

A man with nothing to lose will resort to desparate measures on the flip of a coin.
