I've just spoken with our brokerage team and, while no sales have been recorded yet, numerous services have been ordered for .eu domains. As we are just a few days in, I don't expect we'll close a huge number of sales this week...

Nice work on the reg's guys. Can I get some feedback on who has registered .eu's and some examples if possible? Very interesting that the UK leads the pack in the initial 4 hours of availability.

How are appraisals going to be carried out for .eu ?

I ask this as many appear to be seeking such...

Well, this is certainly something that we've thought a lot about. We've been compiling data the past several months about pre-registrations and where they've been coming from. We've crunched a lot of numbers, such as pre-registrations vs. population, languages that have been pre-registered vs. population of those who speak that language, etc etc. We have a lot of interesting values. We've cross referenced this with the actual numbers of registrations we've seen in the last week. This gives us a rough idea of demand by country and by language spoken, and we use these figures to aid us in determining a value of a .eu domain. We of course also use the same criteria we use on all our appraisals. But for now, we actually do a little bit more legwork when appraising .eu domains. So if you want to order an appraisal for your .eu domain, now's the best time!
