Thumbs down Sedo Domain Escrow: List your domains with Sedo - pay 10% instead of 3%

Just spotted this new addition to the Sedo Escrow page.

---
Please be advised that if you reach an agreement outside of the Sedo Marketplace but you want to use the Sedo Escrow Service to conduct the transfer, and the domain is listed for sale on the Sedo website, the commission fee is still 10% ( see minimum commissions).
---

Not exactly exactly a great incentive to list your domains with Sedo is it? Quite frankly, it's just greedy. You've priced yourself out of the escrow market as far as I'm concerned. Escrow.com for me from now on.

I don't really use Sedo much for buying or selling, but if this is a new addition to their terms it does seem a little silly.

Guess you could remove the domain from being 'for sale' on your account before starting the Escrow process to avoid the 10%?

I wonder if Sedo as a business is beginning to struggle.

This is quite an interesting read - http://www.facingtheabsurd.com/2010/...ncial-results/

It suggests 2009 earnings were down on 2008 and from what I can see, given that parking seems to account for the majority of their income, I suspect 2010 is going to be much worse still.

If I use their third party service and the deal was arranged outside their marketplace, I always delete the domain from their database before commencing the Escrow.

In fairness guys - Sedo still gets the lions share of the big Gtld sales, I appreciate anyone listing with them but selling outside isn't going to be using anything but Escrow.com but then for a substantial and unknown buyer/seller sale who would use anything else anyway.

I take it most here keep a weekly view on DNjournal - it's the pecentage of high reported (£1k plus).co.uk sales of the ccld stuck at around 10% that concerns me
