What's a parked name worth??

Hi

I’m not sure if this topic has already been done to death. How much is a domain worth? Is there some kind of rule of thumb to put a value on a name? I’m not talking about a developed web site, but more about parked domains. Let’s say I paid £10:00 for a name and it started earning me a regular £15 a month on SEDO. That’s £180 a year. I’d need to invest at least £2,000 to get that sort of return on a “normal” investment. In fact there aren’t many investments where you can get your money back in a month and then make 150% profit every month after that! But to get back to my original question, given a name is pulling in a nice steady £10 - £20 per month…. What’s it worth??

I’ve had a name for sale on Acorn doing just that and I’ve had no takers. Perhaps I should increase the price!

Normaly a reseller will pay you 12-36 months x your yearly profit, depending on name and stats/PPC rate e.t.c

sorry .. wrong thread!!

but now I feel obliged to post

in my experience.. 12-36 months revenue seems to be the standard... or 6-12months for a quick sale...

I think if it was a big generic... then revenue wouldn't be an issue...

You missed out an important factor in the above. For every domain you find that can earn £10-£20 per month you may have to register 20+ domains to find that one. So really you have to factor in the real cost to you to aquire that one name. Even when you take educated guesses ie overture score, backlinks etc its still hit and miss.
