Cruises.co.uk Sold for $1.1million

Behind P&O cruises which dominates the sector Cruise.co.uk is currently the second largest cruise web site in the UK.

The new domain however fails to rank in the top 50 UK cruise web sites and has around 9% of the traffic of cruise.co.uk.

A good buy? with 85% of the traffic coming from the keyword cruises to the newly acquired domain name basing a valuation on one keyword listing is a slightly risky strategy however as doug pointed out it does seem to be worth it if his figures are correct and the name can give payback in 9 months.

If they intend to build a social network for cruise goers then this should drastically increase the diversity of content and allow them to come off the reliance on one keyword for all the traffic however it beats me why they didn't just use cruisewithme.co.uk it was only a fiver! Then they could have built a community around some old guy who is a cruising expert like I am going to!
