Exclamation I hope to cash in..!

I own the likes of;

Developer.uk.com and Designer.uk.com

and I certainly wont be accepting reg fee offers on them. In fact I would be hoping for decent offers on them. The names still have the vital .com in the name and are only 1 character longer than .co.uk. I personally believe they (uk.com's) have value, it will just take some time for that to filter through the market as the names dry up in a few years time.

$1650 for Restaurants.uk.com is worth IMO.

Congrats Iman. You own a gold fish**

uk.com

I have some .uk.com names that make ppc every month, only about £20 but money is money.

Ceo.uk.com

I own both:
ceo.uk.com
eur.uk.com

Any ideas on the value of these domains. My impression is that the market is still too young on uk.com names for estimates. I do know eur.com was sold for $50,000, while the ceo domain has obvious value. Is it worth similar to restaurants.uk.com?

The three letter .coms command high value because of the desirability of the .com extension and the fact that there can be high demand from a number of companies who all have the same initials. Unfortunately, the .uk.com does not have the same desirability and shortness factor.

Another concern I have about these 'subdomained' domains is what type of contract the owner of uk.com has with the registrar, or is CentralNIC the registrar at the top of the tree of affiliate registrars selling this 'extension'? Looking at www.uk.com doesn't inspire much confidence. If I owned uk.com, my lander would list participating registrars, not discount air fares.

Ceo.uk.com

You both make good points.

It is clear that the uk.com market is smaller than the .com market and it would be silly to think otherwise. I do not think anybody would disagree with you here.

But my question was about judging potential value on these domains. No uk.com owner would expect $50,000 for the domain, nor even $10,000. At the same time, the undeniable success of hotels.uk.com, a domain which attracts top google ratings in a high volume market, as well as the recent sale of restaurants.uk.com for $1,650 make it equally clear that top uk.com domains do have some value.

The fact that a uk.com name does get top google ratings speaks volumes about the potential of the extension: nobody can now say, "uk.com cannot succeed." It is established that the extension can succeed in high volume markets. This is probably linked to the sale of restaurants.uk.com.

With this established, perhaps it would be smart to wait on selling the domains until a few more uk.com names materialize as search engine leaders or successful websites.
