This sort of figure is easily is obtainable in the UK PPC finance sector.
I would agree that the main slant would be towards the vanity aspect of the name. It does seem a no brainer to invest a few quid to cook up a network of sites and add zeros to domain > site> network values!

Out of interest, what is Mr Invincible's top ten vanity names?

Yes, the price was for the domain name alone, and nothing to do with a website, search ranking, or existing traffic. Typeins would have been around 100 daily. Of course I'm sure they are higher right now (and even higher once this story hits a few newspapers). It looks like an excellent site.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but now I'm getting even more endearing $100 offers for one of my domains

I'm sure the name will help the owner catupult upwards in the direction of money supermarket and money expert which are worth considerably more than what was paid?

The domain price does not surprise me, it's a great investment for the new owners IMO.
