storeburst tips and hints thread

I was thinking how about we start a storeburst tips and hints thread where we all share helpfull tips about how to improve stores and seo.

I will start.

Tip 1. make full use of the footer, you can easily add links to your other storeburst sites or relevent products on the site (such as here) as this will help you gain many thousands of links. Make sure you use anchor text to create the links with your target keyword to get maximum seo benefit.

Tip 2: add relevent content to the homepage such as a video and some text (as shown here it will make users more interested in the site and relevant text will also give you a seo benefit (as long as its unique content).

anybody else have any other tips?

relating to tip 2 you don't seem to have to taken your own advice in the example site given on tip 1

Good points though. I'd also say that a (half) decent logo adds a bit more to the look of the site rather than the default one, even text logos such as this one done on my diamonds store

tip 4. have a look at the recent searches (http://www.storeburst.co.uk/recentsearches.php) that your users have made on your website. If you notice a pattern for a term, say "Curtains" or "Paint" on a DIY website why not make a category for it

as it would be relevant to your users interests and give an seo benefit.

tip 5: add relevant articles (unique ones) with links to products in your website. This will give you highly relevant insite links that will help in seo. It will also help google crawl deep into your website and find those products that are hiding in the corners. Relevant articles will also bring targeted visitors to your site (for free!) who could be incited to by the products on your site through the recommendations or advice in your articles.

Interesting articles will also increase page views, pages per visit and lower bounce rate.

tip 6.

Find the hottest current sellers on your retailer sites, and add those as your featured Products, updating regularly.

Tip 7.

If you use outside ads (adsense etc) don't go OTT. It looks awful, and spammy

Tip 8.

Don't use Adsense on stores, you are trying to get cookies on computers and make a sale, why let another site earn the commission on a sale and you earn �0.05 for the Adsense click for giving it to them.

Tip 9. Don't add to many retailers (with lots of products) they will cause your store to grind to a halt or go extremely slow. Instead add a few relevant stores to make your site (and search) faster.
