Maybe someone can help. I would be grateful
Last thursday noticed no emails - not that unusal - (10 straight to junk-file due to my identifying as Junk))
same again friday. (two days in a row - now that is unusal)

I don't filter into any other file or folder but I checked them all anyway.

Now comes the weird bit, -
I created a 'Rule' to move all emails from a recpient that I know i get valid emails from every day "Nominet" straight to "Junkmail" (purely because that folder seems to be getting all "predetermined Junkmail OK) and immediately all the emails I should have received thursday/friday showed-up in Junkmail (obviously everything from History also moved over - but it seemed to be the only way I could view them - the ones I should have seen from thursday and friday))

Done the same with a couple of other examples Godaddy emails etc (same result). I have run several deep scanners for viruses etc.

So basically my emails are coming down onto my PC - but not available to view or even show-up in the 'Count' Not unless I direct them into junk.

the worrying bit for me at the moment is that (and as a temporary fix) I can't see anything that would be arriving from an email address not already in my inbox. (as I can't create a 'Rule' without a previous email to run the Rule to)

Sorry for the long explanation - It's confusing enough just for me.

You could try disabling all rules and see what happens.

Just tried that - and even a test email didn't show anywhere. I know the emails are not lost otherwise they wouldn't recover when i identify them (those I expect to get from senders) as 'Junk'

backup your PST file (or OST if you are on Office365).

Run Outlook with this command line switch: /cleanserverrules

    Or are you using AVast:
    Open your Avast programme
Click on [Additional security] - [Antispam]
Either turn it off, or change the [expert settings] to suite your requirements.

    or other Anti-Spam app?

    Good luck

    Cheers for that Admin.

I have just created the email rule that directs all emails as "Junk" for the time being. didn't see that option before - so now everythings appeared from last thursday onwards.

so a bit of catching-up first then on to your suggestion, will let you know.

Never seen my 'Inbox' looking so clean...:D

    POP or IMAP?

Leave on server if POP for 7 days and login to webmail to see what is actually coming in and then also set a yahoo account up and forward all emails to that as an extra check.

But agreed I would strip everything back (rules) and start again. Even set it up on another spare laptop, ipad or pc.

Bit of a weird one and would guess a bug or something on your PC.

Cheers Golddigger, stupid of me i forgot about my webmail access - don't use it that often (unless on travels). it is BT's business service so everything should be ok there

There won't be nothing on it for now, being sunday night and i've just downloaded.

i never get to hot under the collar when things go wrong - thankfully

In Outlook do Ctrl + Shift + P and make a new search folder for unread mail. See if that makes it appear. What happens to any new email that you manage to read after you've read it? Does it then show up in inbox?

Thanks will give everything suggested a go tomorrow - Including creating newfolders - I've got back-ups of everything and the "All to Junk" is working as a temporary fix
And, No surprisingly if i try to send any email back into my inbox it disappears again.

I wondered if it was an extension thing. ie different assignment by MS depending on it's (the mails) status

Thanks for that Grant, was going to go straight to MS but thought I'll be chasing around like on most help sites.

This looks to be where I'll be heading first thing tomorrow

    Try, in Outlook
    File/Account settings/data files and highlight outlook.pst
    Then click on settings/compact now
That will compact the data file and should sort out any errors in the file if there are any.
Close Outlook and open it again
    Regards

cheers Ferryman - I'm going to go with the recovery tool suggested by Grant first.

Guess Outlook has it's share of problems for the tool to be there in the first place - Its got to be a corruption somewhere

Oh Man - Now I'm going to have to die a death in public.. (I had started to post an outcome several times, but somehow couldn't find the words)

First of all thank you all for your input - and I really couldn't get my head around Why it was happening. And I'm a Supposedly "Qualifed" advanced user of MS products.

Those that Know MS Outlook will realise theres a very very Small Triangle pointer at the top of every folder (Click for Hide: The Triangle then rotates a few degrees to indicate hidden) TRUST ME it is very small. Yep Fuc*wit here manged to somehow managed to put all incoming mail to 'hide' But obviously that didn't apply to the myriad of folders where I hadn't - hence direct to Junk or other folder =Showing / back to inbox and hidden... Any other folder I'd probably picked up on it very quickly - but suddenly having no downloads in my inbox made me think = devils at work

Please excuse me While I go and hang myself
