What is the best technique for indexing a new site in google?

I have been using social bookmarking with good success, but I was wondering what everyone else is doing.

Best way is links from authority websites that Google crawls regularly.

You beat me to it... yes, get links from other already indexed sites. That is the best way.

Also, if you can, set up an rss feed, stick it in feedburner (that Google now own) and ping it via pingoat.com or similar. Helps get into some extra little cracks.

I've even found submitting a site to Google slows the process down.

    So naturally is better.

A link in a forum signature usually does it.

social bookmarking is good, any website really that has its content updated daily/regularly. My games site that I update regularly indexes sites within a day sometimes sooner.

i find a post to digg works wonders, and has the advantage of being an anchor text link - its a good idea to build up your digg profile first though by making friends and digging stories

Please let me know if links from forum pages are of the same value as links from other site pages?

Social Bookmarking is really effective way to get your site indexed by google. Other than this method, you can also try forum posting and getting links from authority sites. Having a good sitemap is also a good way to make all your pages indexed by search engines. Just ensure that there are no broken links.

Yes the site map can be bad if you are not keeping the links live, but well worth it if they are all connected up.

    Search engine optimization

Use Articles + Bookmarking and a few directories

It will surely help you get indexed faster in search engines.

If you can submit your website to Yahoo directory it will really help you in the long run to gain higher rankings.

You can also submit to DMOZ ( the sleeping dragon). Google relies on DMOZ data and if your site gets approved in 4-6 months you will gain significant preference from Google.

Set up a google webmaster account (or add a domain to an existing global account). Verify the site with google. Submit a web xml sitemap. Add google analytics.

Do em all in an hour.

submitting to an authority site on your niche will get you off to a flying start, even if its a paid link with NoFollow attributes, google follows them anyway but we are not supposed to know that

The easiest way to get indexed quickly is submitting your site in a social bookmarking site like digg.com. Make a try and then see yourself.
