nextdirect.me.uk $2,460 (Sedo)
Interesting they must have thought a DRS wouldn't be clear cut.
Possibly worked out less hassle to buy at that sort of price than file, wait etc. They might have an external firm that looks after their IP interests with a budget to spend!
That leads to 2 questions -
1. Why pay that much and not register nextdirectory.me.uk?
2. How long before someone else registers nextdirectory.me.uk?
They're probably reactive rather than proactive. How did they find out about the original me.uk domain name? Was it a functioning web site or does their IP protection firm simply use the PRSS or WHOIS to find registered domain names that match predetermined strings and patterns? I've no idea!
Realistically they could go on forever registering defensive domain name after defensive domain name, therefore some may find it easier and cheaper to just go after the ones they notice are registered.
Perhaps you should try (2) and stick on Sedo before reporting back. You might get away with one a month and pay your rent.
Separate names with a comma.
