Hmmm. "Eek" rather than "Eke". Tsk tsk!

Ha at least they've done something different I suppose, quite brave to do it too.

I'm a content writer if you ever need me :p I can eat a foot long quicker than they can too!

Most people I know who have gone to uni have come back to work in the same shop jobs they did before they left..

So really this isn't a bad offer at all, better than working in tesco or boots anyway.

Yeah I used to think university was for intelligent people, now.. not so much lol.

I would say of the 30 or so people I know personally who went to university and finished a couple of years ago, only maybe 5 are using their degree for a job.

Now that half of all students go to university (up from about 10% in the 80s) it's hardly surprising that a degree is devalued. Having said that, the flipside of many more people going to university is that companies can easily use that as an initial filter to whittle down job applications (ie having a degree doesn't score you many brownie points, but not having one GUARANTEES rejection)

Beyond that, it's down to the university, subject and degree class to see if the degree has additional value in the company's eyes.

We researched the market beforehand to make sure the role was pitched at the right sort of level. And I guess the 150 applications (and counting) say that we got it about right.

For everyone who wants an update on the #bestjobapplicationever, on Monday we set James (as he is now happy to be known) a task to get 1,000 responses to our survey in 48 hours (and for the majority of those to vote "yes") for a guaranteed interview.

Although he fell a little short, 88% of the 700+ people who responded voted "yes", so we spoke to him this morning.

We've all had a lot of fun with his application - and there's a good chance that we'll use him in a freelance capacity in future - but a couple of other candidates are a better overall fit for some of the less creative aspects of the role.

He's thoroughly disappointed that he misspelled "eke" of course! (And at just how many of you pointed that out!)

Any of you that said you would be keen to get in touch, please send me your details and I'll make the introduction.

Otherwise, thanks for being part of the fun!

    Martin

P.S. To the person who suggested we video the interview and post proof of the 90 second Subway demolition on YouTube - it's a great idea, but maybe next time! :)
